The first step we are going to take is to install the controller bindings for your Valve Index Knuckle controllers.

1) Start SteamVR and launch DoomVFR

2) Once DoomVFR drops you off at the main menu press the small system button on either one of your knuckle controllers to bring up the SteamVR interface.

3) Choose Edit Controller Bindings -> Custom Bindings/Choose Another

4) Finally browse the shared controller bindings and select the
"Smooth Turning + Jumping on right stick" binding by "Kaleb".

5) Now exit VR.

For the next step in the process we need to overwrite two .cfg files that manage your controller settings in ways that the UI of the game will not allow.

That's all for this section.

For the final part of this process we need to hop back into VR and launch DoomVFR.

Once you are back in the menu start a new game on the desired difficulty level and pause once you get control of your avatar.

now press the ~ key to open up the console and then use your keyboard to copy paste the following as a single command:

bind STEAMVR_PRIMARY_AXIS2 _lookLeft; bind STEAMVR_PRIMARY_AXIS3 _lookRight; bind STEAMVR_PRIMARY_AXIS4 _jump; bind STEAMVR_PRIMARY_A _weapnext; bind STEAMVR_SECONDARY_A _weapprev

Hit enter and close the console.

Now the new control scheme should be fully functioning!
Be sure to at least keep playing until the next checkpoint so that the game saves the modifications you made.
