Entering Thorwal for the first time
When you're done selecting the party members you will leave the Temple and enter Thorwal. To begin the Main Quest you must visit any Tavern. The Taverns don't open until 11:00 AM or 4:00 PM depending on the individual tavern, of course you start the game at 8:00 AM. This gives you time to run around the city allowing the auto map to fill with information.

Once the taverns open, enter any tavern you choose (light blue squares). View the auto map to find where these are. After having a few drinks, a man will enter and annouce a search for heroes (this means you). He directs you to see the Hetman. You can stick around for a while, drinking, buying drinks for others, having others buy you drinks and hoping to hear rumors. The only useful rumor will be heard at the Four Winds Tavern regarding the Ghost Ship.

When you're done and probably drunk, if you stayed a too long, go see the Hetman located in the NW section of Thorwal. After describing the situation and accepting the challenge and asking about payment you will be given a writ usable at the Armory located on the East side of the city. You will also be given a name to follow up with.

At the Armory outfit your heroes with gear making sure to spend every bit of your money as the line of credit is only usable at the Armory. Money you had with you is unavailable until you leave. Depending on your party members will determine what items you want. You won't get the best of gear yet so make sure your party is well balaced equipment wise.

You can now visit any of the stores (grey squares)between the hours of 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM to fully equip the party members. The additional gear you should have is; 1 lockpicking tools, 1 blanket for all members, torches and tinderbox if you don't have the Fiat Lux spell and one rope for each member. Some healing herbs may be useful but not needed immediately.

You can now leave town from any of the travel points (bright red) or take on the local bandit problem by visiting the fortress located South of the Hetman. Demand to see the master to get the details. He will offer a down deposit on your services and tell you to come back after collecting your gear. When you come back he will now give you the initial payment.

Explore the dungeon killing brigands, opening locked doors with picks and spells and basically learning how to use healing techniques and other skills. In the NW corner is an altar with money. I suggest you leave the money as your chance of receiving miracles at the temples will decrease. Several treasure chest are located around. The contents won't dissappear so you don't need to empty it right away but doing so can bring you money if you sell the items.

On the first level NE corner you will encounter six Brigands that can be a challenge if you don't yet understand the combat strategies needed or if you lack healing potions and herbs. This why I suggest returning to the city after every fight to save at the temple, resupply gear, or heal damage and loss of Astral Points at the tavern.

The second level will also have Eight Brigands in the SE corner. Wiining this battle will complete your reason for being in the dungeon in the first place. You can continue on to the third level but i suggest returning to the city to collect your full payment. Leave the rest of the dungeon for a couple of levels and instead head into the wilderness.

The main quest takes you north but i suggest you go south and east learning the needed skill for wilderness survival. Resupplying food and water should not be a problem if one person has decent hunting and survaival skills. Collect herbs with someone that has good herb lore for decent money if sold. Collect herbs for healing and the alchemy skill once that becomes a decent level and you have an alchemy set.

I had to take a break because i realized skills have a very small chance of increasing over 8 and I got pissed at the game. plus this was my first guide and I wanted the experience.
If you have the game check your file folder for the hint book and it basically gives any info I did. My spell guide covers what the manual does not provide however.

Hello, are you going to be adding any other guides? I found this incredibly helpful.
