Presenting the eighteenth skin in my very first collection, the Desert Eagle | Rising Tide!

The final pistol in the collection, and just so happens to be my favourite gun in the entire game! I saved the deagle for the end because being my (and many others') favourite weapon I knew I had to do it justice. Everything I've learned from the 17 skins (including the other 9 pistols) I made prior to this has culminated here.

This pistol was for more time consuming than I had thought it would be (unfortunately that means no second gun this week but more to come next saturday!). It's hard for me to pinpoint exactly why but it took longer for me to develop. I think the part that slowed me down most was the difference between how the UV displayed in photoshop vs. in game. Parts of the UV mesh that were not visible or were not stretched would turn out different in game. I essentially had to play guess and check until I got these areas to line up, I ended up making 90 test versions of this skin to get it right. Pics to prove it:

I also ran into an issue with the way the game overlayed the bumpy texture over the grip. I don't mind the texture, but it darkened it so much that the light portion of the white foam was almost as dark as the shadows on the rest of the skin. The white parts of the skin are meant to be the highlight/focal points and it really messed up the composition. The way I fixed this was using 2 adjustment layers. I used a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer and edited Saturation -12 and Lightness +7, then I used a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer and edited Brightness +17 and Contrast +51. This allowed me to match the colours and brightness in the area, and you can use those setting yourself if you run into the same issue.

I had a lot of fun working on this skin and I couldn't be happier to finally share it with you all. I hope you like it aswell :) I have many more skins on the way and I am adding a skin for every gun in the game to this collection, so stay tuned for future additions! Thank you for your time.
