Does it STILL WORK? Farming S CLASS Freighters No Man's Sky 2020
By Defiance
Does farming S Class Freighters in No Man's Sky still work in 2020? After reading through some of my comments from my older No Man's Sky S Class Freighter video, some people have stated that the grind takes too long or the old reload method doesn't work anymore. So i decided to test whether the old method still works on my Xbox this time round.

Do S Class Freighters spawn using the Reload Method?
Last year I created a detailed guide on how to get an S Class Freighter in No Man's Sky, however some players have stated recently that the method used in that guide doesn't seem to be working, or the spawn rate is extremely low taking countless hours of grinding to obtain one. The guide involved the Reload Method which basically required the player to put down a save point after 3 hours of gameplay and just before the 5th warp to the system with the freighter. If the freighter is not an S Class, then the player reloads the previous save and repeats the freighter battle until the desired S Class Freighter spawns.

I was curious to test whether the reload method still worked, so i created a new save on a fresh character and tried farming for the S Class Freighter myself. For anyone wanting to view the previous guide it can be found below:

Testing the Reload Method Video
Total reloads / attempts was 38
Total Gameplay was just over 2.5 hours

Farming S class freighters still worked for me but it can be a long process, took me about 6 1/2 hours but got the largest S class and cool colors too. worth the time for me but may not be for someone with limited game time on their hands

This is not a guide. This is a video.

Hey, I thought I should post this since I found your information very helpful. I started this last night after watching the video, but the problem i was having was the freighter I wanted wasn't in any of the 3 star systems I tried (Korvax apparently don't like my favorite freighter). I managed to find mine in a 2 star system a few minutes ago! It took me 5 runs but it spawned as an S class on that 5th run. It was a really good feeling to finally get it after nearly falling asleep earlier this morning trying to do this. I estimate it took me 80 of so tries between all of the systems.

But I thought I should mention that I found one in a 2 star system.

What are capital ships? What is the difference? How to understand that the ship that I liked in general can be S class or just max A for example

Can confirm it works on PC. Took about 7 hours of reloads at about 2 minutes per run. Tips to speed things up:

- Definitely save on the SS after warping in but before engaging in the fight.
- You don’t need to answer either set of comms from the commander. Just kill the pirates and enter the freighter.

Don’t give up! On average, you’ll need to reload 50 times in a wealthy system, but that’s just an average. Could be 2 or 2000.

Can confirm the method still works today. PC, Permadeath, saved at station before jump and jumped into a 3 star economy system for 5th jump, freighter battle every time. Look has so far been exactly the same (small galleon with sloped cargo boxes) But class has been C, B, and A.

Still scumming for the S, but as of Companions, method still works.

Thank goodness NPC freighters don't save, heh.
