How to produce (farm) foods
You need food against hunger, and the more effective ways than berries are farms and bakeries.
Otherwise one can feed oneself by collecting berries in forest or at countryside by pressing and holding the 'E' key on the keyboard. But which is less nutritious and needs to be plenty of to be tediously collected, however is more available and in many quests. Improving the (gardener skill tree, up to herbalist and alchemist makes collecting berries much more faster)

Press tab key on keyboard, click Building tab, select the submenu with the "mill" icon,
select the first build, the farm.

Build in order
1) farm - as its needed for producing seeds from plants,
2) the garden - where you will place seeds and they will grow by time which then you will collect
both this building needs the basic perks in the worker and the gardener skill tree
you can eat grown crops directly, you don't have to build the 3rd, advanced item - mill, though it produces more nutritious foods

3) the mill - its needed for producing flour out of the wheat later to be produced breads or pies in bakery from it, however it needs the more advanced, second perk in the gardener skill tree, the "herbalist" one

as the final step you might build bakery to produce breads and pies from the flour,
the last building under the anvil icon submenu

When you find any plants, crops in the countryside or woods like wheat, tomato, cabbage, potato you can bring it to the farm. i hope the army leading perk tree eventually becomes something you can do whenever, as long as you have around 20 relation with those you lead, and maybe with more limited troops if you are not the leader. it would be an alternative way to complete some quests and protect the area you live in without having to fight yourself. right now it does not feel great when perks and playstyles rely too much on each other, instead of being separate choices

I found that to demolish buildings which are already finished one has to look at that piece of paper.

@Warpiggy as of right now you cannot invite settlers to join your city. The current system is set up so that when settlers arrive off the ship, they will pick a point on the map and walk there, and then choose a city that is close. If there is no close city, they will automatically choose a new spot and move there.
