Introduction
Touhou Hakanai Card, or 东方幻灵录, is a 4 Players Chinese Online Card Game based on Touhou Project.
This guide is here to help people understand some of the mechanics of the game and navigate in the menu, but it will not replace a translation. If you’re not comfortable with a game in a language you don’t understand, whait for the English translation.

Also, I don’t speak or read Chinese, a lot on this guide will be based on my own interpretation, and English is not my native language, so if you could excuse and fix the spelling mistake I will do, thank you.

This game is not a TGC. You have every card from the start, and there is no deck building.

Now, let’s start about what we need to understand first: The menu.
1 : The Menu
So, first of is to understand where you are, where you can go and where you want to go. Let’s look at the main menu:

Let’s go from right to left on the main screen:

In the top left is your pseudo and coin

Then on the folding screen:

1. Donation: You can use the game money to roll new avatar and cosmetics, or chose some with the paid money.

2. Item Box: Your Avatar, Avatar Edge, Card in detail, Board, and Character.

3. Ranking: The ranking board

4. Card List: Did I really need to say more?

5. Mail: When you start the game, you got 10,000 coin in there.

Hata no Kokoro: Q&A and other Chinese stuff.

On top Right:
The Lantern: The first button is the news, then the message the dev option (for bug or other stuff), then the Option, then the Tutorial, and finally the exit button (Blue is for no)

Then, the two big button on the bottom:

Left: Create a private game. I didn’t have the opportunity to use it and understand how it works.
Right: Search an Online Game.

So, where is the solo play? I don’t know, still didn’t find it. I actually don’t even know when the adversaries are online players or bot.

2 : The Board
So, we will go on an actual game I play for explaining stuff, then we will look a bit more at the card and characters.

First, after you find a game, you need to choose your characters. Each Character got different bonus.
Here, I take Reimu.

Then, you will meet this screen. You can choose any card you want on this, if you have the money for, pay two coins to reset the card and got new one, or exit the windows. Bronze cards cost 1 coin, Silver 2, and Gold 4.
Here, I take two Wriggle and one Rumia for 3 coin. Then I send Wriggle on the board.

Let’s loot a bit at what we see here.
On the top middle right, I got my money (actually, 0)
On the left, all the players and their HP.
On the bottom left, my character, her HP, and my actual lvl.

The lvl is used to send more cards on the board. The more your lvl is, the more card you can send on the board, with a max of 8. Also, the lvl is added on the power you have when you fight.
You can up the lvl with coin, and each turn, the lvl cost less to up. When you lvl up, the cost reset. (It cost first 1 coin, then two, then 3, and the cost for the lvl 3 don’t go down if you’re lvl 1, even if you’re only need 0 coin to go lvl 2, it will still be 2 coin to go lvl 3)

On the bottom is my card reserve. Rumia is here, because at lvl 1, I can only have one card on the board.
On the board, you see cases, with the number (yes, this is the number) on then. Wriggle is on the number 1. This is really important for card skill, we will talk about them after, but the first card who uses her skill will be on 1, then 2, etc., etc.

Also, you can see that Wriggle is lvl 2, while Rumia is lvl 1. When you take multiple accounts of the same card, they will stack on each other and up their lvl. This is also really important, I will call that "Power Up".

On the bottom right, you see the combo list. I only got one card with three ‘types’, so I got a 1/3 Chibi, 1/4 Yokai, and 1/4 Nature, who is the 3 types of Wriggle.
But let’s now look at the card a bit more before going about the actual gameplay.
3. The cards
So, let’s take a look at the wriggle card on the menu:

On the top, you see the three elements of the cards. Yokai, Nature, and what I decided to call Chibi.
Under it, you see the skill the card have.
The number is what lvl the card needs to be to unlock the skill. So, with a Wriggle lvl 1, you got her first skill (I think it’s a bonus point, or something like that), and on lvl 5, you got her second skill (who transform the type of every card you have on the board on Nature. Yes, it’s a sword of Damocles, really strong, but it can weaken you if you have other combo on the board)

Then you got her illustrator and VA.
Let’s look at all the Chibi type card:

So, as you can see, there is gold, silver and bronze Chibi cards. Shinmyoumaru got only this type, while Remilia and Flandre also got the Demon type (with Koakuma) and the Scarlet Devil Mansion type (with all the inhabitants of the SDM)

Some card only combo with another card (like Reimu and Sanae, who are the only two Miko card) or with a lot more (Like the Human or the Yokai type)

Now, let’s go back to the game.
4 : The game
So, the game is in 2 phase:

-Draw and Place
-Fight

Each turn, you got coins based on your lvl, then you can buy the card you need.

Then you can place and power up your cards, sell them, lvl up or go back to the drawing screen.
You can always take back a card, or move it on another slot.
You keep the unused gold for the next turn

After this goes the fight phase, where you can see one of the adversary boards.

Your power will be based on your combo (having cards or the same type), on the power of your card (A lvl3 bronze card give you 3 power, a lvl 1 Silver card 2, and a lvl 1 gold 4 [need to be check]).

Then the card will launch their skills in ascending order (first the card on the number 1 board slot, ther number 2), if they can. Some got power up skill (Mei Ling, Koishi), others will debuff the adverse card (Yukari, Remilia), and sometimes they will do stuff (Sanae, Satori). Just stuff. Don’t know what.

The player who finally got the highest power score will win again the adversary, and inflict damage based on his power - the adversary power.

The last player to still stand will win.

5. Additionnal Informations and Strategies
—The lvl of your card don’t have influence on the combo. A lvl 7 cirno will still be only one fairy.
—Price for selling cards is always the same as the cost of the card. So selling a gold card give you 4 coin, and selling a lvl7 Cirno give you 7 coin.
—Yes, it’s a game based a lot on randomness, and it can sometimes feel a bit unfair. Don’t hesitate to sell your card and buy new ones, a new board is better than a stagnant one. And you can keep cards in your hand, if you need.
—Using money for resetting card is not the best to do when you’re not at max lvl (8)
—Changing the placement of your card can be the key to win on late game. Remilia is especially interesting, she throws a spear who block the two adversary card in front of her. Having her on the line with the highest power of your adversary is more interesting than letting her block weak cards.

—The game server is in Chinese. So the game will sometime lag, give you green windows, and you have to wait for it to come by. When it comes back. At worst, I got Disconnect 10 times in only 4 different game. But if you play at 22/23H (GTM+1), it’s slightly better. At least for me.
Dev also recommend the use of a VPN.
