Advanced texturing in Rise of the Triad

It is possible to assign second texture to the wall. Then, lowest tile of the wall will use the first texture, and all other tiles will use the second.

Here we have an entrance built with green bricks. It looks weird because of many doorways on all heights.


Applying green bricks above the doorways makes the entrance is a lot more convincing and realistic.


Now it's up to imagination. Many different uses of the technique can be done, for example, making buildings in this mountain village a little more interesting to look at.

How to do it?
Place a user defined LHV with texture number on top of the wall.

To add green bricks above doorways use LHV "2c" (number of green bricks) on each "Entrance Stairs Wall". This is how it looks like in MapEdRot:


WinRoTTGL v1.70 doesn't support this and there your level will look like it was never applied. Since some players will not be able to see advanced texturing it's best not to put any important clues in it and just use it as additional decoration for the location.

Thankfully, another source port, rottexpr, has support for this technique, so if you really need someone who don't want to use DOSBox to see advanced texturing you did, that is the port to recommend.

But is it possible to make the textures sharper, and also the resolution?
If there's a program to do that I wanna try this, at least without losing the Steam Play button, just alter the textures. :chug:
