Yes its looking no soo nice , ans some cheat, however, it can save your city from a web of pipesyes. for now, maybe, its only decision.

To those not getting how this works (because I struggled myself).
The connection buildings have an inlet and an outlet, with the latter one being 100 / 200 / 300 m away from the former, not really being marked by anything else than just the little icon.
