Intro
So basically, this guide is just a slightly more detailed version of what I keep telling people. Not much people know about the bar, what happens when you get a "bad deal", or even that you don't have to trade in more than 2 chips at a time. (Not that that's anything to be embarrassed about. I didn't know about this stuff until i was about 100 hours in)

Also do note that this guide will assume that you have either beaten the game or thay you have progressed enough to have gotten red chips in the past. If you have never seen a red chip then it might take some time and grinding before you can get these.
The Bar | How to get red/ult chips for cheap(er)
First things first, lemme tell you about the bar:

Theres a location in haven that everyone's seen. Its where Liff hangs out before you get to know him and the only place where NPCs look like they're having fun.
Not much people seem to know about how one of the E-Swap machines in the bar is extremely special. Basically if you go up the stairs in the bar, there is an E-Swap machine that ALWAYS has over 96% success rate. This means that its almost guaranteed to hit the jackpot at the bar. You can take advantage of that and use some of those higher up chips to get the best chip in the game about 10 times a day.
NOTE: After 10 or something uses, most E-Swap machines enter a state where they are out of order. It takes about 24 hours (I believe) for them to be restocked. [Who is willingly restocking this machine I do not know. But that doesn't matter.]

Now for how to exploit the bar to get red chips:
What you need is either a royal chip or a mystic chip. This isn't exactly cheap but it's cheaper than putting in 5 of them at a time. Also, you need exactly one of these high-end chips per use. You also need a trash chip (literally any rarity that you are willing to give up. preferably the most common/least effective chip you have in your inventory).
All you need to do is put in the royal chip and the trash chip and hit swap. There is a 2% chance that you will not get a red chip. If you really do lose then all that happens is that you have one less trash chip for reasons ill explain later.

Also if you do not know where the bar is, go to the sewer entrance and do a 180. You will need to jump on the catwalk above you (if you weren't on it before).

How to get squashoo easily
First let me tell you about food E-swap machines. Basically, they look the exact same as a normal one but they have a sign to the right of the display with a display that looks like an advert for Hypets.

Also unlike the bar, these are scattered around the districts. They are in the Haven district, the Admin district, and a few machines are in sewers as well. Keep a look out for the sign as that's the only visual difference from a food vendor and a normal E-Swap machine.

To get squashoo, you need a high tech chip (or a chip with higher rarity) and a trash chip. Just put the high tech chip and the trash chip in and click swap. You will 100% get squashoo. It will say "Bad Deal" 80% of the time but (unless high tech chips are the highest quality chip you have) that's actually not true, since you just got the best pet food chip.

How this works
Basically, the way that E-Swap machines determine what to give a player when they don't hit the jackpot is this: They take the most expensive item and return a similar chip with its rarity. For food vendors, the highest rarity is the same (if not a tad bit lower) as high tech chips. This means it forces squashoo out every time.
How to get SPECIFIC red chips
In the gamer HQ, there's a bunch of E-Swap machines. They are all hacked (aside from the food vendor cuz why would you hack that). They all have a chip icon near them and that icon tells you what chips they deposit. For example, a machine with 2 arrows as its icon means it deposits speed chips.

To get a specific red chip, go to the machine with the corresponding icon and put a red chip in it that you don't want (ie hacking) as well as a trash chip.
That's all there is to it.
End
Yeah that's about everything. If you have any questions or think i need to explain something better just tell me in the comments.

The 5 cards is the unnoficial patch I belive. Console/unmoded users wont get that benifit.

just checked, all machines will give 1 card on a miss, and 5 cards on a jackpot, with a +2 rarity modifier, the only difference between any other machine and the fusty game one is the chance and that it will always spit out a +2 rarity card

I think they always give 1 card, regardless of what amount you put in.
The unofficial patch might change how much you get on a jackpot, but this guide is specifically going over not getting jackpots lol.

do the gamer hq ones still give 5 cards or the same amt you put in?
