Terraria: Lorekeeper Diaries Vol. II
By Okami Tomato
The second part of the Lorekeeper Diaries, this time focused on Pre-Hardmode's bosses. The first part proved somewhat successful, and people asked for more, so I shall provide.

Disclaimers:
-This isn't a guide, just a place where I can store this information without it becoming messy or getting lost.
-While somewhat tied to Terraria's official lore, it won't be entirely accurate to it.

Anyways, without further ado, enjoy :)

The Lorekeeper
The Lorekeeper is a completely non-canon, fictitious character in the Terraria world who is used in this page as the person who actually documents the findings and lore, as opposed to using the existing NPCs as most of them would probably not have access to the same stuff the Lorekeeper has. While the NPCs are made to have their own characteristics and to be interactable, the Lorekeeper is designed to be an onlooker from the outside; using prying eyes and wisdom with his age to document findings over generations.

One should also note that, now that there is lore and a Zoologist and a Bestiary to contend with, that some lore is different from what was planned for me to write before, so I've had to make some changes. Also, that this page will only be covering Pre-Hardmode bosses, and nothing else; even the events were covered prior.

Anyways, onward we go!

11 - King Slime
This large, amorphous monarch proves more of a nuisance than a genuine threat, I mean, look at all the slime and gel it leaves in its wake. It acts just like a giant slime... which is fitting because it's all it is.

It's simply just a conglomerate of slimes, nothing more and nothing less... minus the crown and any unfortunate creatures that get stuck within its body. Still not sure where the crown comes from, though, but it's a valuable item and looks nice above the fireplace.

However, I've noticed that, as I dug through it, that there seemed to be a ninja that had met a squidgy and rather awful fate within. Of course, I took little care in dispatching the beast, so I can't say much for what happened to the ninja... I'll just blame the slime regardless.

12 - Eye of Cthulhu
A large, monstrous eye that watches those who dare enter these lands carefully. If it deems you to be some sort of threat, you'd better watch your back... because it sure will. It's essentially just a massive version of one of those Demon Eyes that keep flying everywhere at night time, and seems to be the thing that's creating them.

This beast was dispatched by the Moon Lord during a great confrontation, though after the monster's retreat these things were abandoned; left alone to wander these lands with no hope of getting home; simply following their orders to spawn smaller eyeballs as more cannon fodder for a master that left long ago; sad, but annoying.

Don't feel bad for it, though, its search for its master is little more than a hive mind initiative, so honestly it's probably best you shred it with swords, arrows and bullets before it regroups with its superior.

13 - Eater of Worlds
Looks gross, smells awful, tastes... alright actually. As I expected this is nothing more than a giant chain of combined Eater of Souls and not, as I'd expected prior, a separate creature. Perhaps they assume that grouping up gives them safety in numbers and that combining together like that would increase their strength. Somewhat correct, I'll give them that, but all the extra weight has cost them all their flight, with even discarded segments having forgotten how to fly.

What they are good at, though, is burrowing. They prove highly effective at burrowing through the earth, having taken a page from their friends the Devourers, and have made it almost an art form.

Not sure what to do with all the excess meat from it, though. Maybe I'll try one of those 'burgers' that I've overheard the townsfolk talking about.

14 - Brain of Cthulhu
An oddity of nature, something born from the fallen beasts of the Crimson. Despite its given title, it wasn't in fact taken from the Moon Lord but in fact one of its eldritch brethren, whose bodies now line the Crimson.

One would think that having a body composed mostly of brain matter would make it highly intelligent, but it appears that its brain is smoother than I thought. Exposing its weak point and thrusting itself at things is a stupid idea that even a giant flying eyeball could have worked out. Seriously, it had invulnerability and teleportation and its plan was just to ram me with a large, squishy body? What sort of plan is that?

Maybe its brain power has deteriorated over the years of lying dormant beneath the Crimson's depths.

15 - Queen Bee
A colossal bee, monarch of its hive. On a surface level it may just seem like some sort of gigantism effect caused by its underground cavernous home, but I think maybe there's more.

Most things in the jungle seem larger than they should be, like hornets and bees and spiders, and the plants seem as ravenous as the bugs that infest it. I've heard rumours of some sort of 'jungle guardian' that empowers the entire jungle with its energy, but I have yet to confirm such rumours.

Whatever the case, the Queen Bee is relatively passive to outsiders at first. However, if its larva is harmed, it becomes immediately ruthless and will launch bees and stingers towards assailants. Honestly, it should probably defend its spawn before they are harmed as opposed to after, but maybe it's just too large and lethargic to truly prepare for a fight until it's too late.

16 - Skeletron
Ah, Skeletron. Former ruler turned disembodied floating head, and cursed guardian of the dungeon.

Skeletron as he is now known was formerly the ruler of these lands, long before the Moon Lord's invasion. He was once a happy king, though over time of his rule things slowly drowned his spirits. The Moon Lord incident was the final thing that pushed him over the edge with the stress and broke him to his very core.

He ordered the dungeon to be built, and then from then on anyone who disrespected him or displeased him would be thrown into its depths. He had wizards curse it so that, as long as he lived, no soul could pass through into or out of the dungeon without risking a brutal end. Little did he know, these wizards also hexed the king as well, something he would not find out until his death.

When the tyrant died, the curses and hexes he'd ordered on the dungeon befell upon him, too, turning him into the one known as Skeletron. Possessing souls so he could maintain human form, but still forbidden from truly leaving the dungeon, Skeletron continues to cause nothing but grief to those he encounters.

May your twisted soul finally rest, you vile thing.

17 - Wall of Flesh
A gargantuan beast made of flesh, and believed defender of the spirits of light and dark and core of the world. Whatever it is, it's hideous.

Made of writhing, ambiguous flesh, the Wall of Flesh is an entity that, from my observations, requires a sacrifice to be summoned. The sacrifice must be of one close to the challenger, one who has helped them achieve the power to face such a creature, a guide if you will.

I have seen countless individuals fall to its wrath. Its eyes watch their movements, and its jaws gnash together as it travels. It has countless mouths attached to its body, leech-like worms squirming within, and a disgusting tongue it uses against those who displease it.

If anyone daring enough to face something like that head-on manages to find these entries, I wish you luck.

Final Notes
Second part of the Lorekeeper Diaries, covering entries 11-17. As much as I would have liked to try and push it to 20, there aren't that many bosses in Pre-Hardmode, and trying to squeeze in more enemies like rare enemies, mini-bosses and the Dungeon Guardian would probably just make it messy, so I decided against it.

That is most of Pre-Hardmode covered now across the first two volumes, so I might move onto some Hardmode stuff for the next one, when I get around to it. However, I have a thing or two I might release before then.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed :)
