Welcome to Traffic Jams!
UPDATE - Traffic Jams has now launched and we've revamped the guide for you!

Hi there! Thanks for checking out Traffic Jams, in this guide we'll highlight some of the gameplay basics before you get started with Traffic Jams

About Traffic Jams

In the world of Traffic Jams all traffic lights have gone out and you are the only one who can keep traffic flowing in the face of outrageous events and flagrant road rage. You start off in the quiet town of Gouda, but as you progress, traffic control job offers soon start pouring in from iconic cities around the globe.

Rude pedestrians, impatient drivers, and the occasional meteorite will be yours to control before road rage strikes. Yes, you read that right; meteorites! But those aren’t the only hazards; This chaotic VR game is full of monsters, (un)natural disasters, and something called… ‘cheese bowling’?

Meet Dennis, your instructor!

Dennis is your greatest frenemy, your rival, but most importantly, for better or for worse, your teacher. Hailing from Jam City, the self-proclaimed "best traffic controller...EVER", takes you under his wing. His experience comes from the many flash mobs and packed intersections that his hometown is known for. Armed with dreams of superstardom, a sassy attitude and fresh dance moves, he has taken it upon himself to teach YOU the ropes of traffic controlling.

If you give him a chance, (and the occasional dance), he'll take you on a jam-packed global adventure to become the Ultimate Traffic Showman.

Without further ado, onto the gameplay basics and some tips!
Gestures
STOP AND GO

The gameplay of Traffic Jams consists of the two following basic gestures: first one is the “stop” gesture, where you point at a target and make them stop, and the second one is the “go” gesture to make them move. It’s as simple as that, no need to push any extra buttons, just point and wave to make them stop or go.

Point with one hand, and face your palm to your target to make them stop.

Point with one hand and motion inwards to tell your target to go.

EMOTING

Using the sticks or the touchpad on your controllers, you can emote towards the pedestrians and drivers; try it out and see how they react!

Note: The bird flip emote is replaced with a family friendly one when parental controls are turned on.
Pedestrians and Vehicles

Pedestrians and vehicles make up the bulk of life on the streets and they come in all sorts of variations! Your interaction with them to keep the flow going will always be the same (until certain external factors come into play!)

Indicators

Stop Sign and Green Arrows.
The Stop and Go gestures directly affect the pedestrians and vehicles in the game. Once you've commanded a target to stop, a "Stop" sign will appear above their head. This will indicate that they will wait before crossing the street (pedestrians) or making a turn (vehicles). A green arrow sign will indicate that you've told them to cross the street/make a turn. You can even tell them to hurry up by pointing at them and repeating the "Go" gesture and make them run. These will be signified by double green arrows.

Patience bar

When given a command to wait, a "patience" bar will appear. The longer the target has to wait, the more annoyed they will be. This will affect the amount of points earned, and if the bar fills up completely they will ignore your command and just move on their own!

Carrying weight
There are some physics involved with the vehicles that you may want to keep in mind. Larger vehicles like trucks and buses will take longer to accelerate as opposed to scooters and cars. Pay attention to the vehicles and time your stops and goes accordingly!

Tip: Pay close attention to what the pedestrians are wearing or what the trucks are transporting to unlock certain events! (covered in the next section)

The better you maintain a flow, the better your score will be. For each succesful turn and crossing, a multiplier is built up until a crash occurs. The points you've racked up until that point will be added to the final score and the multiplier resets to 0.

But for some things, you may want to cause crashes to happen however... so let's head on to the next section!
Objectives and Events
Traffic Jams is more than just bringing the flow into traffic; each level has mini-missions and objectives to partake in!

Viewing level objectives

Before you start a mission, you can see a list of objectives on the mission folder. When you've completed any of them, you will receive a mark to track what you've already accomplished in that level. During gameplay, accessing this list is as simple as looking on your funky retro-yet-advanced wristwatch.

Pay Attention!

Events and mini-games are unlocked by interacting with certain pedestrians and vehicles! We don't want to spoil anything in this guide, but take a hint from us: Maybe try crashing a truck with special posters or grabbing an item from pedestrians walking by.

Each level has it's own set of challenges, objectives and mini-games! In the demo we have the Daytime and Nighttime variants of the starting level, Gouda. We hope you'll keep playing to discover the various mini-games to cause even more chaos for you to manage!

The full game will have levels with more streets and more lanes, different items and trucks to interact with... and some (un)natural disasters! Traffic Jams will be available on Oculus Quest, PlayStation VR and all major PC VR platforms in September 2020. Setting up the Multiplayer mode!
Now that you've encountered the challenge of the streets, it's time to bring some backup! Traffic Jams' multiplayer mode is a cooperative effort between the VR player and non-VR players.

The mode is unlocked after you play through a level for the first time and visible by clicking the green tab on the level folder!

JOINING A ROOM

Non-VR players can join in by entering the following URL in any browser, be it on the phone or on the computer!

www.trafficjams.app

The non-VR player will be asked for a 4-digit room code, which is provided by the VR player. After 4 players have entered the code and the player names during the countdown, the multiplayer session will start!

COOPERATIVE OBJECTIVES

The Multiplayer mode of Traffic Jams is very focused on teamwork! The non-VR players will have to spawn pedestrians, cars, zombies and more to supply the VR player with the objects necessary to clear the objectives!

Each round consist of two objectives (ie. crash 2 pedestrians and let 4 cars cross safely), and after successfully completing the objective, 20 seconds are added to the total time.

The game ends when time runs out, so the better everyone works together, the longer you'll be able to jam on in the streets! At the end, a leaderboard will appear, showing who of the non-VR players contributed the most to the session.

bknyce41, your comment been a while ago, but in-case you still looking for answers: what the game expects from you there is to wait until a lorry/truck arrives with fish on the side. you crash that lorry/truck with another car and then fish falls out.
Pick up a shinning one (I recommend to pick it up with your non throwing hand) then clone more fish with the throwing hand. When you have these mentioned fish in your hands pedestrians will change to have animal seal hats. and you have to throw the fish at them to feed them.

I'm more of a perfectionists in trying to do mission objectives..but I can't understand paris objectives feed pedestrians with seal hats some fish. How do I feed a pedestrian and what's a seal hat. Navy seal or animal seal
