•An API scam is people who gets access to your account.

• How do they get access to my account?: They get access to your account from a THIRD-PARTY SITES.

• What do they do after gaining access to your account?: They make an API on your account.

• What happends when they got my API?: They have access to manage your steam profile. They can remove/add/block your friends. Upload new avatar. Change nickname and ect. And the most important thing they can send/accept/decline trade offers. The next time you trade your items for example to your friend or trade to bot. ALL your items get traded to the scammers account. And your items will be lost forever.

How do I avoid API scams?:

1. From friend in message. He may ask you log into site for: to know price on your an item, to help him in the vote, to get a prize, to withdraw items from site.

Finally the scammer created and knew the api key (developer key) from your steam acoount. Now they can manage your account.

Since they cant steal your items, they have a good scam scheme. They trying convince you that you got banned in steam. They remove/change your avatar, change your nickname (usually on your steam id64 (like 76561191231231231)), remove your friends (sometimes) and add FAKE steam admin in your friendlist (the second account of scammer). This Fake admin ask you to cinfirm a trade offer with your items "to check it". After that you NEVER can get back your stuff.
