How to Solo Radiation Rumble
By Hobo Misanthropus
In this guide you will learn the supposedly "Impossible" Radiation Rumble solo. I make no claims that I am the first person to perform this solo consistently, I can only say I have the biggest PP of all who have.

If you're a bloodied build, ignore this guide. You are of no use here.

What you will need.
Every recipe for disaster starts with an ingredients list. Here's what I use:

  • A good shotgun, ideally Explosive with a large magazine. Quad Explosive Double Barrel or an Explosive Combat Shotgun are ideal.

  • Configure the Shotgun for MINIMUM range (should be 36) and MAXIMUM Accuracy (Refined or True Receiver shine here)

  • The Enforcer Perk, Ideally Rank 3, but not strictly necessary if you have an explosive shotgun.

  • (Optional but Highly Recommended) Shishkebab and Rank 3 Friendly Fire

  • Not be a Bloodied Build, because you are useless.
I used to be a glowing one like you, then I took a 12GAUGE to the knee.

This is you.

At least, that's how you're going to feel. Soloing Radiation Rumble relies on a technique (Some would say Exploit, but they have smol PP) called "Spawn Pinning"

Spawn pinning is where you maim, but do not kill an enemy, so that the game does not spawn a new one in its place. This was used to great effect in some of the more advanced Vault 94 solos, and it can be used to similar effect in Radiation Rumble, which is ostensibly a copy-paste of the final GECK holdout in "Meltdown"

Make your perk and build preparations in the idle time before starting the event. You won't have much time when the proverbial ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan. Remember, Shotgun, Enforcer, Friendly Fire, Hazmat level protection. We've been over this.

Begin the event, and immediately ready your shotgun. As you see ghouls, start shooting their legs or at their feet. If you have a good explosive shotgun, a single peppering can cripple an entire horde, if they're sufficiently close.

Try to not outright cripple the ghouls just yet. Let them hobble around on one leg until the turrets are destroyed. As these turrets are your biggest enemy. They will kill relatively quickly, any ghouls you pin down. You don't want that.

Keep an eye on scavenger HP, you really don't want to lose one this early. Rescue and heal any. Again, don't try to kill the ghouls, just blast their legs off. Try to attack with your shotgun from such a range that you do minor damage, let Enforcer do all the work.

Eventually, you'll notice no new ghouls are spawning. The NPCs will still be attacking the ones that you've pinned, and may eventually kill some, but the NPCs are slow. You'll have plenty of time for our next step, they don't really kill the ghouls fast enough to get swarmed, and this is why you REALLY don't want to lose a scavenger early, as a single ghoul respawn doesn't pose much immediate threat, but a pair on a single scavver can rip them apart fast. Now let's move on to the really hard part.
Pumped Up Kicks.

Run, run, run.

This is the Hardest Part, the part that actually makes you "Win" The event, instead of just stand around like an idiot. You need that ore.

Each Branch contains 10 Ore Nodes, and it takes 25 to reach the minimum threshold to "Win" the event. That means you're visiting at least 3 out of the 4 shafts to retrieve ore. That's a lot of time leaving the tasty scavengers alone.

If you've successfully pinned the spawns, you should have enough time to get one, maybe two shafts worth of ore. As safe as you feel, always keep an eye on Scavenger HP. If it starts to drop, you don't necessarily have to abandon the shaft right away. A scavenger can tank a single ghoul for around 30-40 seconds, That's enough time to clear one shaft and run back. But use your better judgement here.

If you have a Shishkebab and Friendly Fire 3, you have a lot more wiggle room to let the scavengers tank. If you don't, you should probably take no chances. I don't know how the rewards are actually broken down, but the general consensus is that the plans for the coveted Radiation Barrel don't seem to drop if any of the scavengers die. Hopefully someone can correct this with proper citations if that's wrong. So keeping them alive should be a priority.

Once you've cleared out 3 shafts, you have enough ore to "Win" the event. But don't deposit it right away, unless you feel particularly lucky. At 25 Ore turned in, a new wave of stronger enemies spawns. It can be either Floaters, Deathclaws, Crickets or Snallygasters. But none of these can be effectively "Spawn Pinned" so once they start spawning, you have to switch back to DPS racing.

Instead, turn your ore in in the last 10 seconds. GG 2 EZ
Jolly Cooperation.
As a closing note, if you have people you can communicate with, it takes as little as two people to "Perfect Clear" Radiation rumble, but the time thresholds are pretty strict. One of you has to immediately start gathering ore, as the ore slowly respawns per player.

A single player has access to 40 ore off the bat, so if you can get at least 80 ore with 3 minutes left, you should be able to get the last 20.

A third person makes this trivial though, and once you have the 120 ore, you can "Clear" the pinned spawns and farm the ghouls for XP and loot, turning in the ore to induce new enemies to spawn, or instantly end the event if things go mammaries up.

If you're a random person who joins a low-man Radiation Rumble, take a peek around and confirm they're not attempting the spawn-pin. IE: Don't go around killing the grounded enemies. Unless you want to troll. Then do it.

I can confirm the Radiation Barrel does drop if even one scavenger is alive. However if you're solo, having more than one as a buffer is ideal. This only makes the solo a little bit easier if you're going for loot. Otherwise, if you just want the Tnotes, you can harvest only enough for rank 1 and then XP Grind the rest of the way.

I also see conflicting information on if Rank 4 increases the drop rate of the Rare items, some say it does, some say Rank 3 and 4 are identical drop rate for the Barrel/Hazmat suit.

Oh, and Friendly Fire is currently broken, I heard that is new with Locked and Loaded update, so hopefully will be resolved soon. I doubt this is soloable without Friendly Fire outside of theoretically. So sure, you could be perfect every second and also lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, never needing to heal a Scavenger, but it's not likely.

I had a steam community ban, so I couldn't update this for One Wasteland. The biggest thing that's changed though, is that Explosive on Shotguns no longer seems to trigger Enforcer, so you must score direct hits to cripple the Ghouls.
your hilarious.
