This does work for some games. If it doesn't work for your game, set the Window Mode to Windowed and select a lower resolution. The window will scale down to that resolution. If it isn't scaling down, you're still in full screen.

Well, that did ABSOLUTLY nothing...

it basically launches is as a window and then goes fullscreen in bad resolution

doesnt work for me, the game launches in the worst res possible
