Weapon Overview
The Double Barrel (DB) is a series of Shotguns (SGs) in Combat Arms. It has 2 types of firing modes. Left click and right click. Left click is for 2 shots, while right is for 1 shot, yet more powerful and less time consuming. The gun holds a decent amount of ammo, 22 shells. And as you can expect with them being SGs, the range is awful. But up close this thing is deadly, try 1 click dead. According to the wiki " The double discharge does about 168-169 damage at point blank."

Rank Required for the OG original DB SG is Sergeant for 4,410 GP a week.

~~~Other info~~~
- The Double Barrel is tied with the M4A1 CQBR for the fastest draw rate in the game making it a very useful backup gun.(CA Wiki)
- There is a slight pause between shots when firing both barrels. Switching weapons quickly may cause only one shot to fire. Additionally, on laggy servers, this may cause a large pause between shots. (CA Wiki)
~~~Variants~~~
Loadout(s)
1 Double Barrel with default gear, can barely cut it. With a weapon with such a limited range you need to get up close and personal with your enemy. The best way to do that...speed gear. Vests, caps, boots, anything. As my favorite hedgehog once said "Gotta go fast."

Zig-zag is a method of not getting shot, usually by snipers, just don't run in a straight line. As you have a weapon that is best up close, getting up close is part of the battle. I also suggest playing on smaller maps, afterall your strong point is up close.

So the loadout. You should have mutliple double barrels. I call this the double double barrel combo. Or if you want to get fancy the double double double barrel, or triple barrel - hopefully you get the picture. So equip your strongest double barrel first, and in your backpack slots B - D have the weaker ones. Other important things include SMGs/Pistols/Smoke/Flash. I will go into more detail in a bit.

~~~The basic strategy~~~
See enemy, either lure them into you around a corner, or zig-zag up to them. When you think your close enough right click, press 1 (or switch to your next DB) right click again. If they are still alive, you know the drill, next DB right click. Now you don't want to waste all your ammo on 1 target, so switch to your pistol or SMG (if you have one). Usually 1-2 hits from either will kill them at this point. Find a safe spot and reload all your guns. While you can left click, right is faster. Combat Arms feels like it is all about speed, but accuracy with Double Barrel is arguably more important.
*Remember if your switch too fast it may only register that you left clicked.
~~~Other strats~~~
Pistols
Because I'm cheap, I just carry 2 Double Barrels. I also have one of the fastest pistols in the game. So if I am in trouble, I whip that thing out and spray. Pistols can be switched out much faster than SMGs, cheaper, and don't take up a backpack slot, so I use them. Pistols I recommend include:
[/previewimg]

These include the Five Seven, the Walther p38, and the G18. All have the fastest rate of fire for pistols. I prefer the Five Seven, for the amount of bullets (10) and tied with the Walther p38 for fastest at 48 points for rate of fire.

SMGs
If this is your cup of tea, you probably do not need my recommendations for this part. Like pistols, I feel the faster the fire rate the better, because after 1-3 double barrels, they will be weak. 1-2 hits from anything will kill them. And you do not want a misely assist. So any of these guns will work the best:

The Skorpion, Mac-10, UZI, & T2, all 4 of these guns have the fastest fire rate of 90 points. Also note the UZI has the fastest reload speed, followed by the Mac-10.

Smoke

When playing on larger maps, or just in need of a safe getaway smoke is the answer. Underrated is all over it. You can't see much while inside smoke, and while outside, but you can see those leaving the smoke before they can see outside.

- Lure enemy, throw smoke in front of you. Get your DB ready on the edge of the smoke boundary, and BAM!
- Use smoke to run through open areas, I do not advise small long hallways, but if you must, you must. I tend to you smoke when running across Snow Valley or Rattlesnake.

Flash
Not gonna lie, I know nothing about flashes, I mean to expierment with them in the near future, so until then this is all hypotheses.
- Flash a choke point, and turn the corner and BAM! That's really it. It's just a little extra to ensure you fully open that can of whoop ass on them.
The Strats
Now you know what to equip and when to equip it. But how shall you play? These 2 are like exact opposites of anothers, but it all depends on the mode.

- The slow but steady
Well when in SnD/Elim Pro, hide around corners/choke points (hallways with little room to dodge bullets!) Crank that sound up, listen to your enemy before you can see them. Giving you time to prepare and know where to aim. If noise is made, they are not crouching or walking. So you know exactly where to aim (at the upper body, headshots/jumping) This also works on chamers. Think about it. 1 tiny entrance, no matter how they approach it they will lose massive amounts of health. Just keep moving and remember to walk on loud objects (wood, water etc.), I believe C is the default.

I do not advise much pushing, due to your limited range, if you must use your pistol as it actually does damage from far, Once the long range spots are clear, switch back to your DB and check those corners. If it was not for the terrible range I would recommend slow tanker gear for this, if you have some lying around, might as well equip it, if you are defending only.

- GOTTA GO FAST
Zig that zag, move like lightning, and blast anything that moves, jump switch to another DB, fire, pistol, hide, reload, restart etc etc. This is best for OMA, Arms Race, Elim (small maps), CTF, Spy hunt etc. If you are chasing someone try and wait to you are very close to blast them in the face with your DB. Do not wait too long, for you may get backstabbed or something. This judgement is up to you.
Do not Forget...

Carry either a fast pistol or a fast SMG just to be extra safe, and for far away enemies. If you tend to encounter enemies from a distance try out smoke grenades. If all else fails add me in game JDL12, and we can wreck havoc together! 8)

I'd advise against using flashes, considering that most players that use speed gear use the anti-flash goggles for the +speed face, which have 100% flash mitigation.

Not a half bad guide, considering there are literally no other guides to view, definitely a unique take on using Double Barrel SGs effectively.

@Gutzen It is for DBs, but it helps ensure you get the kill, if you miss with a DB, reloading it isn't your best option, rather switch out and finish them off. The guide explains this as the DB is the main part of the guide.
