If you played Lobotomy Corporation, Battle Symbols are pretty much just Gifts: cosmetic items that boost your stats by a small amount.

Unlike Lobotomy Corporation though, instead of getting them randomly, you have to fulfill certain conditions in battle to unlock them.

Each floor has to reach a certain level before your librarians can equip Battle Symbols. Once you reach the required level, you can equip Battle Symbols from the tab next to the Combat Bookshelf.

It seems that unlocking Battle Symbols also unlocks its respective titles for use in librarian customization.

NOTE: It seems that some of the Battle Symbols are a bit buggy, with some being unobtainable despite fulfilling the conditions (notably Emma and Noah's symbols) and some being obtained despite not meeting the requirements. If you encounter any buggy symbols, you can submit a bug report and hope PM fixes them later on.

Tip: The most consistent (though time-consuming) way to do this is to fight the Kurokumo Clan til the second floor and kill everyone except Gin (he applies at most 2 stacks of bleed) and make sure he is low enough to be finished off with a strong card like Transpierce. Let him kill everyone in the first floor and have only the librarian with Oscar's page fight for the second floor. Let him activate the passive and finish him off.
There is a chance that you may get unlucky and have the passive activate when you're at 2 or 1 HP and you'll die of bleed next turn. If that happens, you can still kill Gin and the battle counts it as a win, however, you won't get the Battle Symbol.

Tip: The conditions for unlocking this is deceptively tricky. After some testing it seems that the only card that counts for this is Cooking Prep. You also have to inflict bleeding three times in the same encounter, and if you kill the opponent with the attack that was meant to cause bleeding, it doesn't count. You don't have to have Pierre's page equipped to get this symbol. If you're trying to get this symbol, I recommend putting 3x Cooking Prep on the character you want to unlock this on and only have that character attack on Yun's Office third episode. (The enemies there are weak enough to lose to Cooking Prep consistently, yet tanky enough to not get killed by it outright).

Be sure to kill off Lulu's friends too so they don't accidentally steal her kill. It seems that dying to burn damage still counts for this symbol.

Tip: The requirements for this is a bit vague. I am pretty sure that the only card that can get you this symbol is Brawl. It has 4 dice on it, but it replaces them with dice from a random card in your hand. If its dice is replaced it with a card which has only 1 dice, it should count as removing 3 dice for this symbol.

Effect: 4% chance to boost Pierce dice power by +1

Tip: The best way to get this is to save your powerful, heavy hitting cards like Crack of Dawn or Transpierce and when Oscar is staggered, use them all on him and pray to RNGesus. I'm not sure if simply using Boundary of Death works as I have yet to get it to proc. As a side note, the fatal blow that triggers his passive does count for this symbol. (I hit him for a perfect 36 with Crack of Dawn while he was at 30 HP and it dealt 11 damage to him.) With update 1.0.1.8, Smoke was added to the game. Utilizing this update's key & combat pages makes this symbol a lot easier to obtain!
