Not using the Wiki:
https://digimon.net/reference_en/detail.php?directory_name=doruguremon
...I'll conceded the official transliteration point.
Als refer to a game released in 2006:-

Do you have a quote on this?
"the DORU line is meant to be a thematic fusion of the Agumon and Gabumon lines to strengthen the parallel between Alphamon and Omegamon, "
...actually, further research into DORUmon's introduction, Digimon Chronicles(2003!), had his line be
Raptordramon -> Grademon -> Alphamon.
Chronicles showed us how Alphamon Oryuken came to be: Alphamon + Oryumon.
So, Alphamon Oryuken, a fusion between Alphamon + Oryumon, would be the one to parallel Omegamon, a fusion between WarGreymon + MetalGarurumon. (Hacker's Memory classifies both as Ultra, NOT base Alphamon)
Since Oryumon is the partner of the Yamato-equivalent in Chronicles....that would make Alphamon the "WarGreymon" of the story.
It's not debatable at all.
The Kana are visibly different, and DORUGreymon is a dub name, he's appeared in games and such, after all.
His official transliteration is DORUGuremon.
Do not use Digimon Wikia, use Wikimon.
His DRB profile was released in 2010, with DORUGuremon as the official transliteration, though he was referred to as DORUGuremon a few times before that, earliest transliterations I've seen were DORUGremon. Never seen DORUGreymon outside of the dub terms, and it's double incorrect because the DORU line is meant to be a thematic fusion of the Agumon and Gabumon lines to strengthen the parallel between Alphamon and Omegamon, making it explicitly a Greymon weakens that.
Which is also why none of the DORU line are on the Greymon-Species page on Wikimon. (Because japanese directly uses Kana for stuff like that and DORUGuremon's name is spelled differently.)
>The "guremon"(グレモン) isn't the same as "greymon" (グレイモン), nor is a short for greymon, please don't spread misinfo.
That is...debatable.
Consider the debut of the mon: the NEVER EVER DUBBED X-Evolution movie.
Ive known it as DORUGreymon since 2008.
The Wikia sources the name and spelling from, and I quote:
"Official name given by the Digimon Encyclopedia and used in American English media"
And what is the Digimon Encyclopedia?
"The Digimon Encyclopedia (デジモン図鑑 Digimon Reference Book?, Dejimon Zukan) is a section of Digimon Web, Bandai's official Digimon website, that contains the definitive profiles for many Digimon. It was launched on June 25, 2007"
In other words, DORUGreymon was the official romanisation given by Bandai all the way back in 2007.
