How to deal with hackers
By SAM
I created this guide to share the ways I found best to combat the new rise of hackers in TF2. I hope this helps.

Identifying Hackers
The first and most obvious part of acting against hackers is identifying if there are hackers and who they are. Most hackers currently are generic aimbots, so they will be found spinning around and racking up points. If you open up the scoreboard, you will be able to see how many points they have. Most aimbots and hackers will be playing sniper and will rack up a lot of points so that is something you want to keep track of. However, be aware that many hackers will take the names of other innocent players. It just depends on what hackers you are encountering. The more abrasive myg0t bots will have very distinct names, while the more silent bots will take the names and sometimes profile pictures of innocent players.

The next part of identifying hackers is chat spam. If there is any kind of chat spam, whether it be "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ - WAY TO THE TOP" or just a load of empty spaces, it will most likely come from a hacker/bot. To identify who is sending empty space messages, open the console as it will make it much easier to scroll up such a large amount of space.

Taking Action Against Hackers
In this section, I will go over how you can take action against hackers and their actions.

Destroying them
Hackers can be pretty fun to kill sometimes, and if you can trap them in a spawncamping loop then you can make them ragequit. Look to my next section about killing hackers for more information on this.

Reporting them
If you go into your advanced options menu in-game and enable the interactive scoreboard, you will be able to right click players on the scoreboard and do a specific set of actions about them. You are also able to report them. While reports will most likely be ignored, it is still good to throw a report out there.

Muting them
Hackers on your team will most likely be playing some form of earrape music. If you go into the mute menu, you will be able to mute anybody you choose to. For some reason, a lot of people don't know about this.

Votekick
TF2 has a bad but functional form of votekick that players can use to votekick players on their own team. If a hacker is on your team, please call a votekick. If they have taken the name of somebody else on your team, check their profile pictures or ask the original to call a votekick and stop anybody else from calling one. If a hacker is on the enemy team, ask the enemy team to kick their hacker but also check to make sure they are kicking the right account.

Killing Hackers
While fighting against hackers ingame isn't the most efficient way of dealing with them, some hackers immediately leave upon being killed. There are many ways to fight a hacker but here are some of the best ones:
  • Counter-snipe (must be good)
  • Splash damage (must be careful or have enemy intel)
  • Sentries (really funny)
  • Dalokohs Bar + Fists of Steel Heavy (Optimal)
  • Vaccinator Medic (Optimal when paired with other sources of damage)
While these are all tricky and not very much better than just removing the hacker, it can be fun having a hacker rage quit or get spawncamped.
