Beriev Be12 Tchaika

The Beriev Be-12 "Tchaika" (Чайка - seagull in Russian) is a twin-engine seaplane, the first flight of which took place in 1960. First designed for military purposes, most of the examples produced were used as maritime reconnaissance aircraft and coastal, for anti-submarine warfare as well as for rescue or geophysical research missions. It is the replacement for the Beriev Be-6. Between 6 and 12 copies are still in active service in the Russian naval aviation in 20181, for the majority of them stolen from Ukraine following the annexation of Crimea.
