First Step: Open the console in the game.
The console is a tool that all source games have with which we can access a wide catalog of commands within the game that will allow us to change or modify the parameters of the game and that is super important to improve the performance of our game. that through this we will be able to access certain options that we could not use through the less options of the game.

In order to activate our console in the game we must go to our library of games on steam and right click on the game, then on properties and finally go to start parameters and place the command: -console

If you do not understand I will leave you a photo right here, my steam is in Spanish but in theory it should be exactly the same for all versions regardless of the language in which you have installed your steam

also, inside the game and w the console open type:

bind "F8" "toggleconsole"
(or any other F# botton)

to open the console inside game
Commands List
With the launch parameters defined, it would only be necessary to start the game, once
started we will see that the console will come out, inside this we can start writing the
commands that we will use to configure our game and improve performance.
For those who do not know these commands work by turning off certain or altering certain
values ??or functions of the game such as light effects, sparks and among other effects graphics.

Here are some commands and their functions:

r_flashlightmuzzleflash 0
This command will eliminate the light effects when we fire a weapon, it is super useful for
save us resources in the game, especially when we shoot in dark places.

r_drawentities 0
This command removes certain entities within the game

r_dynamiclighting 0
This command turns off the effect of dynamic light

r_drawparticles 0
This command turns off the particles

r_DrawBeams 0
Turn off the effect of the sun's rays

r_DrawRain 0
Turn off the effects of rain on rain maps

r_drawdecals 0
Turns off the effects of bloodstains, scan marks, and bullet holes

r_WaterDrawReflection 0
r_WaterDrawRefraction 0
Eliminate reflections in the water, save a lot of resources!

Other commands:
r_dynamic 0
r_worldlights 0
r_avglight 0
r_drawflecks 0

These are just some examples. if you want to appreciate the complete list. go to the next guide and try some of those commands. This guide is much more developed than mine and all those commands can be used in any other Source engine game, like DDD, CSS, or even TF2!

Do you have any other command that is useful? Do you know of any command to improve performance or turn off flashes? Share it in the comments to help those players with low-income PCs!
To end
Go follow the path below and create a text file with the following name

autoexec.cfg

Once this is done put all the commands that you see useful and save the configuration, now go to the launch parameters of the game and put the following command:

+exec autoexec.cfg -dxlevel 70 -fullscreen -w 640 -h 480 -console -novid -high -heapsize 524288

Important note about the value of the "heapsize" command: This command tells the Source Engine to allocate more RAM to the system heap, where it can be accessed by the game to improve performance by caching more game information in RAM and hence reducing loading pauses. The default heapsize varies, but can be 256MB or less. If you have 2GB of RAM you may wish to increase this to 512MB (a heapsize of 524288). You can use higher values if you wish, but I don't recommend exceeding half your physical RAM (e.g. for 2GB RAM, don't set heapsize higher than 1024000). You can't force the game to load completely into RAM, that's not what this command does. (Special thanks to "KO112" for his guidance on Source Enginer commands)

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Dino D-Day\dinodday\cfg

with this we will make the game load the commands every time we start the game so that we do not need to use the console. now if you are satisfied with these commands you can delete the -console command from the launch parameters of the game so that we can start the console again after starting the game.

NOTE: The resolution can be adjusted to your liking, I always recommend 640x480, they will not be able to see their ping, nor will they be able to read well the chat, the statistics, the kills or the names of the players, but at least they will be able to play well.

If you can see a considerable difference in the performance of your game, adjust the resolution from "-w 640 -h 480" to "-w 800 -h 600"
Command lines for Dino D-Day 64 *Warning! only as a last resource! (PC Potatoes or cardboard)*
This is a last resort, if you are desperately looking to be able to play DDD on a low-resource computer and nothing has worked (or you are just very old school players and looking for an experience more like Doom, Duke Nuken, Shadow Warrior or reliving years playing Quake on PS1). use this custom command line created by me to get the most out of your game's FPS.

This project is still in development and I am still looking for commands to eliminate the flashes, debris and particles of explosion and bullets, but it has helped me a lot. and it may help you too. just assemble the command line and follow the steps above to learn how to run it after starting the game.

Do you want to know better how it works? or do you want to go further? of the configuration that I recommend to play?

Well, prepare your retinas to see what a desperate person is capable of and watch this video:
