Hey! I originally discovered this on Windows 8.1 so if you have that version of windows, this works too! And don't worry I've also tried it on Windows 10 and it works great. Hope this works out for you guys!

How to run RCT2 on Windows 10
1. Go to your search bar in the bottom left

2. In the search bar enter "Run programs"

3. Select "Run programs made for previous versions of windows"

4. Select "Next". It will then be starting to detect issues.

5. It will give you a list of programs. Select "Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 Triple Thrill Pack" it will begin to detect issues with the program. If RCT2 is not listed then click "Not Listed". Go to your Steam files and find it that way.

Program Filed (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Rollercoaster Tycoon 2

After you get there, click on the RCT2 Application.

6. Select "Troubleshoot Program"

7. It will give you a list of boxes. Select "The program worked in earlier versions of windows." Then select "Next."

8. It will give you a list of previous versions of windows. Select "Windows XP service pack 2." Then select "Next."

9. Test the program. DO NOT CONTINUE PLAYING. Exit the program if it does work.

10. After you exit select "Next."

11. Select "Yes, save these changes."

12. Select "Close Troubleshooter."

13. Your game should work now. Enjoy!

Do Not Follow the Guide. Buy Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and Roller Coaster 2 on Steam / GOG / Use your own CD. Download Open Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. Install Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. Install Open Roller Coaster Tycoon 2.

Change Launch Option for RCT1/RCT2 in steam to something like this:
"C:\Program Files\OpenRCT2\openrct2.exe" %command%

You may need to change the Path to openrct2.exe, if you chose something other than the default and/or it changed.

You can also just download OpenRCT2, which is an open source port, it will have you link to the game's files upon install and can run with uncapped FPS and at modern resolutions.

I did not see Windows XP service pack 2 so I chose Windows Vista service pack 2. It worked!

since you said service pack 2, i assume you typo'd when you said windows xp instead of vista, so i picked vista sp 2 and it worked. thank

It does not work for me. I get XP Pack 3, hit test, and nothing. I have Windows 11.
