Direct Chamber Loading.
Direct Chamber Loading
Several of the semi-automatic pistols in Receiver 2 can be loaded direct to chamber, that is; pulling and locking the slide back and placing a round directly into the chamber, namely;
  • Beretta 92FS
  • Colt 1911
  • Desert Eagle Mark I
  • Glock 17
  • Sig Sauer P226 MK25
Why would you want to do this? Well two reasons, one: you may wish to have that one extra round loaded in an expedited fashion, rather than loading via the magazine only to have to remove the magazine to replace the one you racked. Two: you can deliberately reproduce a double-feed malfunction to practice your clearance drills.
How do you load direct to chamber?
The procedure is the same for the above firearms, with some subtle differences, but the basic actions are as follows, precondition; an unloaded firearm with no magazine inserted:
  1. Pull back the slide with R, lock the slide in place with T, release R
  2. Press Z to load a round direct to chamber
  3. Release the slide with T
At this point the firearm is made ready and is live, you can now insert a fully loaded magazine and benefit from that extra round.
Deliberately Reproducing a Double-Feed Malfunction.
How do you deliberately reproduce a double-feed?
The process starts in a similar fashion to direct chamber loading, with an exception, assuming the precondition of an unloaded firearm with no magazine inserted;
  1. Pull back the slide with R, lock the slide in place with T, release R
  2. Press Z to load a round direct to chamber
  3. With the slide still in the locked rear position, insert a loaded magazine
  4. Attempt to release the slide
On attempting to release the slide, it will start to pick up a round from the magazine and stop against the round you previously loaded direct to chamber. From here you can practice your double-feed clearance drills.
Clearing a Double-Feed Malfunction.
How do I clear a double-feed malfunction?
This is already explained in-game, but for completeness sake with this guide I will give a basic actions-on for clearing a double-feed;
  1. Hold back the slide with R and lock it back by holding T and releasing R
  2. Release the magazine, the double-fed round should fall out
At that point you can either eject the round/casing that's still in the chamber, or leave the round there and release the slide** and load a fresh magazine.

**Releasing the slide at this point is important if you left a round chambered, because if you don't; loading another magazine will result in another double-feed malfunction.

Thank you for reading, have a happy double-feed clearing drill practice.

Another reason to want this: I accidentally dropped my magazine and lost it today, and had turrets in my way. I had plenty of ammo but no magazine to load!

It's even worse because I KNOW I'm going to forget how to clear the malfunction by the time I next get it naturally. I'm an Australian, so I can't get access to firearms without jumping through exorbitant bureaucracy and bribes so I can't actually practice and memorise practically how to clear em. This gun sim / game is my only window into exploring my love of firearms vicariously in this amount of depth, but it's too bland and frustrating game-play wise to keep me playing for long enough periods of time to actually memorise malfunction drills.

ikr? it's an unexpected malfunction that TRB (ZR LMB) doesn't fix, and that instinctive fix can waste precious achievement time, unless you try E-Z before hand maybe? That's the first thing you could likely notice, is that the magazine doesn't want to come out without locking back the slide. It's pretty audible as well.

Gotta actually try that myself though

Sadly I don't think you can get the "clear double feed" achievement through manually inducing the malfunction, which sucks because I've got like 50 hours on this game and I can count on a single hand how often I've gotten a double feed they're so rare.

the hi-point's slide can be locked back by engaging the safety while pulling the slide back

You can also Direct Chamber load the Hi-Point 9mm under specific conditions:

Insert an empty mag.
Pull the slide all the way back and let go. Now it catches.
Take out the mag and put it to the side.
Insert bullet and viola! Direct loaded Hi-Point.

Yeah it can be a bit random whether the extractor will pick up the round if you directly chamber load it. It doesn't always fail but like Pedro said, you can confirm it by repeatedly inspecting the chamber until you see the extractor has grabbed the round. I had a weird issue with the Sig Sauer where doing this just would pick up the round though, but as soon as I pulled the slide the whole way back it managed to eject somehow

Doing that makes the gun fail to extract. My method: Inspect the chamber until you see that the bolt has finally catch the round with the extractor. You can also pull the slide all the way back, but if the extractor catch it will eject the round. So take some time to inspect 2-3 times it will work just fine.

I was wondering if this was possible, awesome guide! Holstering and unholstering twice with the Glock if you empty it basically doubles the chance you'll slip off the holster key and shoot yourself as well as tripling the time it takes, so I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore.

Is it possible to get the achievement when you manually double feed it?
