Maximum gil is a royal pain.
The maximum gil for this game is 99,999,999. As such, it will take a huge amount of time to get this achievement.

This approach will allow you to get 352,500 gil in approximately 30 seconds. Note that even with this exploit, the max gil achievement will take 285 repetitions---or just over 2 hours.

If you have a programmable keyboard, I'll show you how to use use basic macro functions to make this less of a pain. But for the rest of you, bear in mind ... this may actually be worthwhile. After all, you can use that money to increase character stats once you get end-game GF abilities. While I won't walk you through the details in this guide, you can transform 1.5 million gil into 1 strength, 1 vitality, 1 magic, 1 spirit, or 100 hp.
What You'll Need
To use this exploit, you'll need:
  • GF Siren
  • Siren's "Recov Med-RF" ability.
  • GF Tonberry
  • Tonberry's "Familiar" ability.
  • Tonberry's "Haggle" ability.
  • Tonberry's "Sell-High" ability.
  • Toberry's "Call Shop" ability.
  • Access to Esthar shops.

If you have all of those, proceed to the next section. Otherwise, focus on picking up those GFs and abilities. (If you missed Siren, you will need to wait until Disc 4 to use this exploit.)
How to Make the Monies
Preparation

To prepare for this exploit, you will need to visit the only shop in the game that sells cottages: the "Esthar Shop!!!" This is the third shop ("Johnny's Shop") in the Esthar marketplace, and it's closed more often than not. Just keep trying to visit the store and eventually it will open. Once you've visited it once, you can call it anytime with the "Call Shop" ability.

If you don't yet have the GF abilities Recov Med-RF (from Siren) and Haggle, Sell High, Familiar, and Call Shop (from Tonberry), go farm the AP for those abilities. The best location for this is Cactuar Island.

Now go into your inventory and arrange it so the first three items are 1) tent, 2) cottage, and 3) mega-potion. If you don't have any mega-potions, you can just leave the third slot empty.

Once you've completed these preparations, move forward to the money farming.

Farmin' Monies

1) Go to the Call Shop ability.
2) Select the "Esthar Shop!!!"
3) Sell all of your mega-potions.
4) Buy 100 tents and 100 cottages.
5) Go to the "Recov Med-RF" ability.
6) Refine the 100 tents into 25 mega-potions and the 100 cottages into 50 mega-potions.

The point is that you're repeatedly buying and refining your tents and cottages into mega-potions. Once you've got the process down, it takes a little less than 30 seconds each time---and those 75 mega-potions sell for 352,500 gil more than it cost to buy the 100 cottages and 100 tents.
Macro Option
So, let's say you don't want to spend two hours of your life getting gil in a video game. Well, there are a few options. Have your kid brother do it for you. Outsource the work to a third-world country. Or have a robot do it for you.

I recommend the robot. If you have a programmable keyboard, you can create a (moderately complicated) macro to have your keyboard complete this process for you. You can use my macro as a starting point, but note that you're using the macro file at your own risk.

Download my macro at this link.[docs.google.com]

Keep in mind, you will also need to customize it. After all, the location of the "Call Shop" and "Recov Med-RF" will vary dependent on what GF abilities you've learned. Other than the arrow commands to move between menus, however, this macro should work for any macro tool that's compatible with the .mhm format. (You should start the macro when you have already gone to "Call Shop," "Esthar Store!!!," and your cursor is on the "cottages" option.)

If you want to make your own macro, here's what I learned in making mine:
  • Keep the button presses short, but create a space of 150ms or more between presses.
  • Leave a delay of at least 500ms when the button-press is going to change the page (as with the shift between pages in the store or the shifts between menu pages).
  • You can simply have the macro "hold down" the up/down buttons when increasing the number of items being bought/sold. The appropriate button should be "held down" for roughly 2 seconds.

Good luck, and enjoy!

Try pressing F5. We randomly found this and it gave us max gil.

Just created my own script using AutoHotKey [www.autohotkey.com].
Hope it helps.

You can find the script along with some instructions in the comment section

Dassian, great script for all of us that don't have programmable keyboards. I was able to modify it to add other functions as well. Thank you very much.

So, here's the thing. I maxed out Siren before even disc 3. But there isn't the ability mentioned here to do exploit. I used Amnesia Greens to see if there's a hidden ability like Tonberry, but to no avail. What should I do?

OR! You can hit F5 like a boss! (If you already have 100 of each magic I don't consider it cheating) The time wasted buying and selling and buying and selling...etc. isn't worth it, honestly. It's innevitable that if you want max gold that you will get it, I just dont wanna waste hours on it as it kills the game for me. I unfortunately thought that using the Booster wouldn't give me the achievement, but I was wrong, but still I would have got it anyways right?

You can also use Razer Synapse if you have Razer gear to do this, very simple just set to record delay and then assign hotkey to toggle continuous playback.

Dassian thank you for the macro, worked great! And Hesperus thanks for the awesome guide! One of the last achievements I needed :dealwithit:

Hey there
For anyone who doesn't have a keyboard with macro capabilities I made a AutoHotkey script for this. Check it out [drive.google.com] if you're interested.

With "familiar," you will find Cottage at the "Esthar Shop!!!" Those exclamation points are not me showing my excitement. It's actually aprt of the shop title. As noted, it's the third shop in the Esthar marketplace.
