Get the spy party quest from someone how has a town that's hosting a tournament.
Travel around asking people about the spy for clues.
Once you have three clues you can identify the correct contender:

Confident Contender
  • No Markings
  • Beard
  • Not bald

Dignified Contender
  • Sword
  • Not bald
  • Beard

Hardy Contender
  • Not Bald
  • No Markings
  • Sword

Bold Contender
  • No markings
  • Sword
  • Beard
