How to use the Burn Planners & What each parameter do.
By Mat
This guide will teach you how to be villains to efficiently use the burn planning tools (both the S-IVB's and the CSM's) and will make you understand what each parameter of the burn does.

Trans Lunar Injection Planner
This will be refered as the TLIT (TLI Tool) for my own and my fingers's sanity.

Schematic of a Trans-Lunar Tranjectory:

The TLIT:
(i've not been smart and numbered the things in the wrong order, sorry 'bout that.)

Note: when you open the TLIT, all the values are already optimal.

1: Predicted Trajectory after passing the moon If you do not execute an other burn.

2: Pitch Attitude during the burn. 0 is prograde, 180 is retrograde.

3: Angle between Moon's SOI & your trajectory (See first picture. Please understand that said
picture was simplified for ease of reading; actual trajectory looks differant)

4: Flight time factor is the duration of the travel from the end of the TLI burn to entry into Lunar SOI. as specified, it can be from 0.1 to 1.5. 0.1 means Fast travel, with lots of DV consumption. 1.5 Means Low DV consumption but longer travel.

5: Post Burn Trajectory. Path the vehicule will follow after Burn.

6: Burn Datas: Time to burn is the time from now to the burn (updates). Time of ignition is
Moment of the burn according to MET.

7: Trajectory Datas: Perilune is Lunar Perigee altitude and Return Perigee is altitude of the Earth Perigee after returning (See N°1). Both are in Nautical Miles from the center of the Earth and the Moon

TLIT with Moon centered View:

1: Moon's Trajectory around the Earth.

2: Planned Trajectory after TLI
CSM Burn Planner
Here is the simplified, more polivalant version of the TLIT, the CSM Burn Planner.

Note: here, the parameters are much simpler; but this is a Noob's guide, so i will still explain them.

1: Burn direction: you can select either Prograde or Retrograde.

2: Delta-V: Desired DV to burn during the maneuver.

3: Ignition Point: Phase angle of the moment of ignition. 180 is Ap, 0 is Pe.

4: Engine Selection: you can select to use either the SPS, the CSM's RCS, the LEM's DPS or it's RCS. Note: the differant mode of propulsions requires differant procedures.
Other Note: the burn planner seems to take account of the Docked/undocked state of the CSM & LEM.

5: TIG: Time of IGnition in MET (here 115 Hours 1 Minute 51 Secondes)
Time to ignition: Countdown from now to the ignition (updates).
Burn lenght (self explainatory)
Orbit Data: displays Ap & Pe After the burn (Nmi distance from the Center of Earth or Moon)

Note: this burn planner will adapt to Earth or Moon depending on how you use it. you can even do TLI with it !.
How to execute Burns.
Even tho this guide isn't ment for that; i see a lot of question about the way to execute Burns.

FOR TLI:

Run the TLI Checklist until you reach the "Setup P15" part. Plan your TLI burn using the TLIT & Request it.

after that, all you have to do on the AGC is pressing PRO until you reach the countdown part. at this point you can proceed in the checklist until "Wait for burn" part. wait for the burn to complete then continue and finish the checklist.

FOR CSM BURN:

Plan your burn & Request it. then Setup P30 using V37E 30E. proceed your way until it starts P00 (Each time, allow 5 secondes for Program to calculate then press PRO. if you don't you need to restart the program By Keying V37E 00E (to idle the AGC) and Key again V37E 30E).

After you completed P30 and returned to P00, Start P40 by Keying V37E 40E. this is the Burn program. the first phase will orient the CSM in the right direction. Press PRO until you reach the countdown part. At T-1 M, activated the two DV switch of the SPS (CMP panel, near the manual activation switch of the engine, two purple covered switches.

At T-5S, the AGC will display V99. it is asking for permission to activate engine. Press PRO to confirm ignition. engine will start burning at T-0. If no ignition, press the manual switch (Big switch near the Two DV switches) and put the switch to OFF once R3 displays 0. Watch the values going down. Once the burn is completed, the Engine will shut itself down. IMMEDIATLY PUT THE DV SWITCHS ON THE OFF POSITION TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL IGNITION. Then, finish the program by Pressing PRO until the program starts P00.
Conclusion.
See, it wasn't that difficult, was it ?
anyhow, i have stuff to test for our lord Petri; if you found anything wrong (Typos, something that isn't well explained) or that you need complementary information or anything, comment and i'll respond as soon as i can.

If anything gets updated, i'll update the guide too, because you all deserve it !

See ya'll.
