Ship Stats
由 McFrugal 發表
There's quite a lot of ships in the game and it may be difficult to choose between them. This guide will show you what each one looks like, where you can buy them, and what stats they have. Ships are ordered by value, lowest to highest.

NOTE: Captured ships have -2 max hull.
Moving upwind has an inherent -2 movement speed penalty in the overworld, and -1 in combat.

Ahhh, ok,
So a "-2 upwind compared" would be due to the 'base' penalty & then the bonuses are tallied from there leading to the higher amounts
That makes more sense, thanks!
McFrugal  [作者] 2022 年 4 月 6 日 下午 3:12
The only stat used in ship battles is base movement speed. Wind does reduce movement speed in ship battles, but no matter how good (or bad) your upwind stat is, it always reduces your movement by the same amount.
McFrugal  [作者] 2022 年 4 月 6 日 下午 3:11
As is stated at the top, moving upwind has a -2 movement speed penalty, regardless of the upwind stat. There is no movement penalty for going downwind. Thus, every ship has 2 less upwind speed than it seems by looking at the stats.

Also, does 'upwind' speed play a part in combat, particularly if you just on fleeing during trade runs?
Wondering if I should go Drekkar for trade runs, or just stick with Frigate & smaller crew so I can waste less cargo on storing food for far more trade goods?

Not sure I understand the whole '(-# upwind compared to downwind)' bit...
Why don't the numbers seem to add up to the bonuses each ship has for up/down'wind?

Take the Full-rigged ship has: "downwind +2, upwind +0"
Which would be a difference of '2', not '4', right?
Same with the Windjammer: "downwind +5, upwind +2"
Which seeing upwind vs downwind is opposing directions, not just simple subtraction, it should be a difference of '7', right?

Could anyone explain plz?
Is it maybe taking into account the base movement as a factor or something?
Thought the movement was just number of tiles you can move in battle, with the up/down'wind being the overworld speed?
McFrugal  [作者] 2021 年 1 月 11 日 下午 10:12
Overworld speed is based on the slowest ship in your fleet, taking into account if you're going upwind or downwind.
rovermicrover 2021 年 1 月 11 日 下午 5:48
Is over world speed based on your leading ship, or an average of all your ships?

Thank you!

Awesome work!

One quick correct The Blackwing Galleass only has 4 cannon slots.

And two quick changes from the most recent update. The Full-rigged and Iron Clad now both have +2 downwind
