GNOG is, at its core, a game about puzzle boxes. It's got around a 90 minute playtime, and I've loved every moment of it. If you're scratching your (g)noggin and utterly stumped, this is the guide for you.

Each box will have a Walkthrough section. Hints precede the actual steps. I'll try to spoiler the walkthrough so that you don't spoil the entire puzzle for yourself. If you're feeling stuck, remember that experimentation is key, since there's no way you can "fail" a level!

Now, I played and beat this game an hour and a half ago. I may not be America's Next Top GNOGGIN, so if you have more efficient ways to solve this, please let me know so I can update this!

I referenced this guide for hidden achievements, so big thanks to 熊崽(冬眠)for putting it out there!

Please note that this Guide is, at time of writing (3/31/2020), by no means complete. If you need help with a particular level, comment below and I'll add it as soon as I can!
TUTORI-L

Now, this isn't officially called "TUTORI-L", but as far as I know it has no official title. I don't expect many to get stuck here, but if you do, well, here's your guide.

This GNOG is great for teaching you the basic controls of the game! If you don't figure it out naturally, it's all mouse controlled. Click on everything, drag stuff around, play with things until you stumble on the right answer! Again, you can't "lose", so feel free to mess around.

WALKTHROUGH
  • This wall may be a clean slate, but don't shy away from clicking anything that stands out. Click on the four bricks that stick out. There's one in each corner.
  • Those signs have mouse buttons highlighted. Right click to flip the GNOG.
  • You can pull things in this game, too. Hold left click. Wait for the screws to finish, then drag the handlebar upwards.

Congratulations! You've sent this woman's boxes flying into the stratosphere. If you're halfway decent, you'd help her unpack. Fortunately for her, that is the only course of action, save for closing the game and ignoring her plight.
FRG-Y

Your first real box. This one's a good introduction to the kind of puzzle solving you'll get into. To open your GNOG, simply click and drag up on the tab at the bottom. You select every level this way, so I hope you enjoy it.

Clearing FRG-Y unlocks SUB-01 and PURP-L.

WALKTHROUGH
  • You're greeted with your GNOG. You win by clicking on that button on its chin, but a moth's in the way! Is there nothing to do here...? There isn't. Flip it around with right click.
  • One thing sticks out back here. It's the yellow triangle. Try dragging it.
  • Flashy things are often important. Click on the flashing items throughout the mural. There's one located at each circle in the triangle's slider; you've done it right if they turn green. Clicking them all makes the back pop off.
  • There are two light bulbs hidden in the room! One's in the third drawer of the dresser. Click and hold on it. The other's in the trash. Knock it over, the bulb will tumble out.
  • How many clicks does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Two: one to put it there and another to screw it in.
  • Something new enters the scene. Try disturbing it. Click on the moth that landed on the lamp. The lamp should turn off. Then, turn off the other lamp.
  • Leap for the meal! Click on the frog. It'll chase the moth.
  • What's inside? Drag open the trapdoor. Then click on the mothman that flies out.
  • Something on it's face is conspicuous. The warts. Click on each one, a moth will land. Once all of them land, they're shaken off.
  • Click on the button on its chin!

CHEEVOS

FRG-Y
Complete FRG-Y
  • Complete the level FRG-Y. Unmissable.

Frog Frustrator]
Please don't bother the amphibians
  • Bother the amphibians. Click on the frog repeatedly while the moth is in the room. It should jump up and down. Should be five times in a row.
PURP-L

PURP-L is themed around music. See if you can get in tune.

Clearing this level unlocks EATER.

WALKTHROUGH
  • Let's get this thing turned on. Focus on the glowing bar... Flip it using right click. Turn the crank all the way. Lift all the circles to their topmost position. Slide the rectangle all the way to the right. Press all six buttons. If you do each one correctly, a portion of the center bar will fill.
  • It's unlocked now. Drag down the handle to open the GNOG.
  • Get the machines running! Pull the left machine's slider right. Turn the right machine's knob all the way.
  • The eyes are now turnable. Turn the eyes until the green bars meet in the center. If you did it right, the top should pop open.
  • Red, yellow, and green are a recurring color theme here. The speakers show what "color" song is playing. And the SFX buttons have these colors, too. Check the instructions at the very top... There is a cable on either side of the GNOG. If you line them up, music starts playing. Turn on all the SFX of the appropriate color - four red on the red song, four yellow on the yellow song, four green on the green song. Nothing else can be on, only the correct color. If you did it right, the screen on the back should show music notes on the associated color.
  • Once every track is filled, finish the level by pressing the triangle on the front.

CHEEVOS

PURP-L - Complete PURP-L.
Win.

Maestro - Experiment in the studio. Get this by clicking on pretty much everything in the level.
  • Every SFX button.
  • The two yellow wheels that control pitch.
  • Each of the eight "Wi-Fi" bars in the inside.
  • The machines at the left and right.
  • The cables that give you music.
  • The eyes.
EATER
A cooking themed GNOG. This one is my personal favorite.

WALKTHROUGH
  • We're greeted with a locked up GNOG. The trees offer their guidance... The code is pink bunny / green cat / blue cat / pink bunny. The lock falls off; go ahead and pull the bar out. Open each door.
  • Two knobs, heat and time. We'll get back to these- flip to the back. Whoever did this GNOG's plumbing should be fired. Try to fix it. Turn on the gas with the huge knob, and spark fire with the button at the bottom. Connect the pipes by rotating the pink cylinders on each one. Turn on the gas, it should be in the center circle. If it's coming out of a pipe, you missed one. Spark a flame with the button. You've done it right if there's a consistent fire in the center. Pull down on the handle, and the back should pop off.
  • You're greeted with a VERY messy kitchen. Try cleaning it up a bit. There are four pages hidden in the kitchen. Click on each to create a cookbook. One is below the wolf. A second is under the station. A third is tucked behind the station, and a fourth is in the cupboard.
  • Call me Chef Boy Artee because Boy We Gonna Cook. Follow the cookbook's recipe.
    - Set the heat (on the front) to the middle.
    - Add three Blue Berries to the pan.
    - Add five Snausages to the pot.
    - Pour in the spices. They're in the containers above each meal.
    - Set the time (on the front) to where the book notes.
    - The pan should turn into a cake, and the pot should have a carrot sticking out the top.

  • Serve them! Click on each meal to serve it.
  • They're just staring menacingly. Help them eat. They won't eat unless you click and hold on the meal. Once they're full, they'll fall asleep.
  • Someone else is still hungry. Now that everyone's asleep... Click the cheese to feed the rat.
  • Once both cheeses have been consumed, the cheese buttons on the face will light up. Press them.
  • One last button. Click the chin button.

CHEEVOS
EATER - Clear EATER.

Acclaimed Chef - Keep the kitchen clean. Make the recipe as smoothly and efficiently as possible. I don't know what precisely triggers this, but follow the recipe as I describe and you should be fine.
CANDY
A sugar themed GNOG. This level's pretty sweet. It's also one of the more complex GNOGs, I'd put it just under HOM-3.

Clearing CANDY unlocks HOM-3.

WALKTHROUGH
  • You're greeted with... a blueprint. Looks like this GNOG's still under construction. Flip it over.
  • Separated sweets. Drag them together. They should form in the center of their grooves. Turn the knobs that light up.
  • Looks like this store's going out of business. Guess we'll have to help her out! Our goal is to restock her candy supplies. Clicking the giant lollipop sign will change the GNOG to chocolate, cotton candy, and gumball sections.
  • CHOCOLATE: The solution is written on a sign in the store.
  • COTTON CANDY: You want to make the center image a cotton candy. Power on the two switches at the bottom. When the lever on the side is set to Circle, the sliders in the middle change the food. When the level on the side is set to Colors, the sliders in the middle change the color.
Set it to here for the Circles...
    And here for the Colors.

  • GUMBALL: Gumball machines cost money. There are nine large gold coins embedded within the candy GNOGs, three for each candy. Each coin lights up one of the yellow lights. Once all nine coins have been collected, turn the crank and receive your gumballs!
  • Now that the shop's stocked, it's time to earn some money. Interact with each candy to attract customers, then click on each customer to take their sweet, sweet currency. Chocolate: Click on it several times. Cotton Candy: Click and drag to spin it. Gumball: Spin the knob.
  • The GNOG has been built! Press its nose to clear the level.

CHEEVOS
CANDY - Clear CANDY.
Chocolate Cheater - Input the Chocolate solution really, really fast. Because you already know the answer.
HOM-3
A burglary themed GNOG - in fact, a whole stack of them. This is easily the hardest GNOG as you have so much to keep track of over multiple screens.

Clearing HOM-3 does not unlock any new levels.

WALKTHROUGH
  • Contrary to what I initially thought, your goal is to help the thieves burgle. New mechanic in this GNOG: the "elevator". Every GNOG has up and down arrows for eyes. Pressing these will take you to the next floor in either direction. This is all the face has to offer, everything else is in the back. Important note: the utilities are at the very bottom. You'll need to use these often, as they're the key to solving each puzzle.
  • FLOOR 4: Penthouse. His valuables are kept in his hat. He seems tired, but the light's keeping him awake. Disable the power, and rotate the candelabra so the candles are put out. He'll fall asleep. Rotate the bookcase, and steal away.
  • FLOOR 3: Bathroom. His valuables are kept in the tub with him. (Hey, whatever gets you going.) He seems dissatisfied, though. Enable water. Disable power. Turn on the shower. Receive currency.
  • FLOOR 2: Laboratory. His valuables are kept right next to him. Easily the most complex house. Enable power. Disable water. Pull the lever to his left to turn everything on. Turn the knobs on the walls to change the screens. These screens have the password on them. When you have it, change the channels to the hypnosis wheel. When all of them are set, the doctor falls asleep and the safe can be opened.

  • FLOOR 1: Alarm clock. This kid needs sleep! Turn it off by disabling the power. Open the fridge and collect your loot.
  • BASEMENT: Utilities. There's no puzzle to solve here, but it's used in every other floor. Pulling the lever left and right will disable and enable the power, respectively. Turning the knob clockwise enables water, counterclockwise disables it.
  • Once every floor has been looted, the thief will climb out and reveal the button! Press it.

CHEEVOS
HOM-3 - Clear the level.
Ghost - Leave no trace. Avoid detection the entire level. Being frozen in the fridge, tumbled in the wash, and revealed while the penthouse is lit up likely counts against this.
SUB-01
An underwater-themed GNOG. It's sink or swim.

Clearing SUB-01 unlocks VORT-X.

WALKTHROUGH
  • The level opens with some fish gruesomely assaulting this poor GNOG. It's our job to put things back in place. Flip the GNOG over and begin by opening the back. Turn each wheel and handle until all the fish are lit.
  • You'll notice that the screen is static. Let's get data coming in. Pull each "eyebrow" towards the center. The fish should raise and open its mouth, releasing a signal.
  • Find the chests, and pull them in with the lever. Dunk the diver. You can see what they see thanks to the screen. There are two chests, a golden box, and a red cylinder.
  • Each chest's passcode can be found floating next to where it was in the water.
  • Click each treasure within the chest to return it to its rightful owner.
  • Align the life preserver with the mural. You can't just hold it in place with the mouse. The gauge by the fish controls the water level. Fill the water so that the life preserver fits the circle. It's pretty lenient. If you mess up, the crab pumps water out.
  • Press the button in the middle of the propeller to clear the level!

CHEEVOS
SUB-01 - Clear the level.
The Aquatic Life - Discover what lurks below. Dunk the diver all the way down.
VORT-X
A galaxy themed GNOG. Great if you need some space.

Clearing VORT-X unlocks LOG.

WALKTHROUGH
  • We open to see a spaceship get bonked by a meteor. This expectedly ruins everything. Your goal is to get it in ship-shape and cruising again. Flip over your GNOG and let's begin.
  • On the back, we can see a bunch of jumbled up circles. You want to align them so they're concentric, and power them. Press the red and green buttons at the bottom to turn them on. The various knobs and sliders to the right change the position of the circles.
  • The ship opens up to a whole mess. Thankfully, the astronauts don't have to worry about decompression. You have several goals here, you can check the four buttons at the bottom right to see progress on each one.
  • Lower Right Button: Life Support. On the front, flip the two levers. On the back, collect all the food. The screen should display a check mark.
  • Upper Left Button: Ship Status. Once Life Support has been cleared, lower the crank above the suited astronaut. Then lower the lever the lights up, and the astronaut will be deployed. Rotate the arm to each broken section and hold down the wrench button to repair: the engine on the back, the propulsion on the bottom, and the hull at the front. Rotate the engine by dragging it. If you hear a whistle, you can accelerate!
  • Upper Right Button: Ship Position. Once Ship Status has been cleared, you're able to accelerate the ship using the top slider and change its X axis with the bottom slider. You can see where exactly you are on the map. Don't worry about turning around, it loops. Position yourself above each planet that you find, and press the moon button by the suited astronaut.
  • Lower Left Button: Planets. This shows how many planets you have left to visit. (They're more abstract collections of shapes, but whatever.) The mobile above the pilot does this too, so stay on the map screen.

  • Once you've visited every planet, the mobile above the pilot lights up. Spin it. You'll see a green gauge at the bottom fill up. Once it's full, press the Vortex button on the front.

CHEEVOS
VORT-X - Clear.
Strong Stomach - Test the astronaut for space sickness. When the astronaut boards the arm, keep spinning it around until the cheevo pops.
LOG
A vomit themed GNOG. You say it's bird themed, but really, you listen to this thing puke for 20 minutes straight. I hate it.

Clearing LOG unlocks LAB-O.

WALKTHROUGH
  • There's nothing to do on the front. Flip the GNOG.
  • These egg knobs show a chick hatching. The code is Egg / Cracked Egg / Half Egg
    / Chick.

  • This flower knob is easily the most frustrating knob in the game. It rotates around the entire circle. As it does, it reveals eggs. Help them out of their shell. Smash them by clicking them.
  • Once they've hatched, help momma out by directing her to where a worm is. Click a stump next to a worm. Revel in its agony as it is devoured.
  • Momma vomits like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy. Seriously, girl has a huge stomach. Is this really how birds work in real life? Unfortunately, yes. Direct her stream towards a chick. Hold left click on the chick to make it eat. If it grows into a full bird, you did it! Now do the same for every other chick.
  • Now that momma's job is done, it's time for the children to sing! However, some are better than others. Click on the birds to hear them sing. Only three are any good at it. Click the terrible ones again to make them stop.
  • Mushrooms have grown on the face. Click each to make them bounce. The GNOG will awaken.
  • Press the button that appears to win!

CHEEVOS
LOG - Clear.
Worm Hunter - Leave no worm behind. Eat all five worms.
LAB-O
A science themed GNOG. Feel free to experiment.

WALKTHROUGH
  • Flip your GNOG over. Turn on the correct buttons. Turn on every button without an X. If you turn on an X, just turn it off again. The handle will light up, drag the back off.
  • The machine on the upper left fires a laser. Turn it on using its yellow slider, and position it using its knob. Aim the laser at the red panel.
  • Drag the helmet onto the bottom scientist and turn it on using the knob to their left. A bunch of panels should activate on the top floor.
  • Use the blackboard's notes to set the gauges properly. Alternatively, here they are.

  • Once the scientist horribly mutates, go to the front, and enable the data panel. Pull the lever down to turn it on. Turn the knob to accelerate. The handle should turn orange, pull it down.
  • Have you ever seen a strand of DNA? It's a double helix with bars connecting it. Select the Blue Circle, Red/Blue Circles, and Blue Triangle buttons.
  • The center button begins flashing. Press it for victory!
  • ...not quite. It seems as though we've accessed the source of GNOGs themselves. Align the circles until they're all concentric. Then press the eye for victory.[/list]

    CHEEVOS
    LAB-O - Clear.
Class Clown - Daydream at the blackboard. Spin it around a lot.
TUTORI-L REDUX
We see our old friend again. Now that we've helped this woman unpack all her stuff, all there is to do is clear this final GNOG.

WALKTHROUGH
  • Press the four buttons.

CHEEVOS
Head of Class - Win.

Roll credits.

Somehow Lab-O became unbeatable to me as the bubbles(?) and a metal plate were blocking the top most knob. I reloaded the level and they both vanished, letting me play.
