Introduction

Ever encountered this problem? Well this guide hopefully will teach you how to solve this problem! I've searched online for countless solutions and I hope to make this guide to ease what others might be experiencing. A cluster of guides I've encountered online as you may say.

Personally, Workaround 2 worked perfectly for me.
(I will be checking the comments if anyone else has found other solutions to this so I'll be updating this from time to time)
Workaround 1 (Still uses Shift Servers)
This fix has been proven to work for some other people, I found it on the gearbox forums here[forums.gearboxsoftware.com].

I have no clue on how to fix this on other operating systems such as MacOS and Linux, the work here only works for Windows 10 so far.

EASY WAY
(not recommended)
(can ignore the bottom instructions if you're too lazy but I'm not to be held accountable if your PC gets a Virus)
Just disable your firewall.

Step 1
Press the Windows Key and S at the same time (that's Windows Key + S) to bring up the search box for windows. Search for "Windows Defender Firewall" without quotation marks and open it.

Step 2
Go to Advanced Settings.

Step 3
Click on "Inbound Rules", then click on the Name at the top there (I highlighted the parts you need to click). Scroll down until you see Local Security Authority Process and highlight ALL 4 and click on "Enable Rule".

Step 4
While you're at it, go and check if Borderlands 3 is enabled as well.

Step 5
Go back to Windows Defender Firewall and go to "Allow and app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall".

Step 6
Make sure Local Security Authority Process has Private and Public checkboxes ticked. Press "Ok" once you are done.

Step 7
Do the same for "Borderlands 3".
Workaround 2 (LAN solution, doesn't use Shift Servers)
For this workaround, you can use either Hamachi[www.vpn.net] or Radmin VPN[www.radmin-vpn.com]. In this tutorial, we'll be using Radmin VPN.

Step 1
Go ahead and download Radmin VPN here[www.radmin-vpn.com] and install it.

Step 2
Create a new network.

Step 3
Put in anything as desired in the boxes.

Step 4
Once you've created your room, make sure your other friend puts in the same room name and password as you.

MAKE SURE EVERYONE THATS IN THE RADMIN VPN ROOM (hamachi also applies) DO STEPS 5 AND 6

Step 5
Go back into Windows Firewall.

Step 6
Disable firewall. Press Ok.

Step 7
Go into Borderlands 3, then social in the main menu. Your friend's game should appear in the LAN lobbies. Press connect to LAN if prompted on the side. Then simply join your friend's game. Voila!

ONCE DONE PLAYING, RE-ENABLE THE FIREWALL JUST TO BE SAFE!
Workaround 3 (From Gearbox themselves)
Personally, this workaround didn't work for me, but anything counts. Just follow the guide from Gearbox on network troubleshooting.[gearboxsoftware.zendesk.com]
Fin.
If any of you found this guide helpful, it would be appreciated if you Like this guide so that other people can also benefit from this!

Workaround 1's hyperlink seems broken. I'm so frustrated this is an issue. This game's been out long enough for them to have fixed this already, hasn't it?

I couldn't find the Local Security Authority Process on the firewall list either.
