About
from: http://www.hiddenpath.com/games/windborne/

Windborne brings social sandbox creation games to the next level. Explore a vibrant world filled with secrets to unlock and treasures to find, craft personalized furnishings and innovative artifacts, and befriend intriguing Jin to help build a new civilization. Will you seek out the clues and artifacts of the ancients, or just loot passing islands for minerals and rare plants? Bring along your friends while you play, and share your creations with the world. Where will the wind take you? Inspired by games such as Animal Crossing, Minecraft, Dwarf Fortress, and the early Zeldas, expect more on Windborne as we work towards Steam Early Access release later this year.

Gathering and Placing
GATHERING:
First make sure you are in "Gather" mode by tapping the Right mouse button.
Notice that your right hand will be placed higher than your left hand in "Gather" mode.

Right-click and hold a block/item to gather.

PLACING:
First make sure you are in "Placing" mode by tapping the left mouse button.
Select the item from the Action Bar, and left click on where you want to place the item.

NOTE(s):
  • So far, you don't need any tool to collect terrain blocks, wool, wood, etc.
Shaping Terrain
First make sure you are in "Placing" mode by tapping the left mouse button.

RAISING terrain - Shift + Left-click
LOWERING terrain - Shift + Right-click
SMOOTHENING terrain - Click (MMB/MW) Middle Mouse-Button/Mouse Wheel [D]

NOTE(s):
  • You can Shift+Hold either the Left or Right mouse button if you wish to quickly raise or lower blocks that are close to each other.
  • There is a limit to how much a block can be raised/lowered, so to achieve greater heights it is better to stack/place terrain blocks first before shaping them.
  • Smoothening is really handy for filling in divots - place a block, highlight it and click MMB and it shapes to the neighboring blocks. [D]
Crafting
The Crafting system is pretty straightforward here.

Simply open the "Crafting Guide" window by pressing "C" on your keyboard.
The "Crafting Guide" window displays the available items that can be crafted.

Click on whichever item you wish to craft, and it will display the required items and special requirements for you to be able to craft the item.

If the "Craft" button is clickable then, you have all the needed requirements for that certain item.
Simply click "Craft" and voila, its done.
Quite simple right? :)

NOTE(s):
  • All items with a checkerboard overlay are items with which you have insufficient requirements and are therefore unavailable for crafting.
  • Hovering over an item in the Crafting Guide will show you the name of the item.

I'll be checking back here when I can remember. If anyone has anymore questions I'll try to help but I'm still learning, myself.

ALSO SORRY ABOUT SPAMMING THE COMMENTS SECTION. It wouldn't let me write past a certain amount of characters and I feel really bad about it!

@Triner- From what I've seen there isn't a way to plant trees unless you make another island and bring them back over. Things gathered from the other islands are kept in your inventory and can be transferred from one to another. I hope this isn't a permanant thing because I've cleared a lot of trees out myself before realizing it was probably a bad idea. Here's hoping to future respawnable resources.

@b3achg1rl- Not sure if you've figured this one out yet. I actually haven't tried to do this? But There is always the mumble client or skype for voice or text chatting until anything is discovered about this? In lots of games hitting the enter key will bring up a chat box but I've never thought to try anything before reading your post. Hopefully light will be shed on that soon enough. Good luck and I hope you've found a solution or work around since your post.

@GFA SkyRanger- Not sure if you've already figured this out but move your crafted item into your hotbar from your inventory. Exit your inventory and if you're in edit mode where you can gather resources- left click but DO NOT PLACE. If you have a middle mouse key aim for around the Jin you want to trade with and click the middle mouse key. Make sure to stay a safe distance away while they're examining it or you might pick it up mid-examine and they wont trade you anything for it.

@McComish- From what I've been able to see when you make a new island your inventory comes with you- but I've never deleted my original island. My husband has deleted lots of islands but I'm not sure if he's deleted his original either.

@Jenn- Not sure what's really going on here but mine occasionally does this when my inventory is full? I also sometimes need to reset the game when I can't pick things up and everything corrects it's self from that. This also works when the Jin are ignoring me completely. However I've encountered times where that WILL NOT work and I have to go to another island for Jin to pay me any nevermind. Good luck and I hope you've figured things out.

I cannot post on the forum and am having an issue with chests turning into a bubble instead of going to my inventory and then floating away.

What happens to my inventory if I delete my island and create another?

How does one chat in game? I had a friend join me, and we were both stumped, so we restored to jumping around and eventually using the Steam chat.
