Part 1: preperation (steam directory)
to prepare, we must locate our save directories. for glorious steam version, look to the following, replacing word not porn with your computer name, as in, whatever our computer is designated as instead:

C:\Users\not_porn\AppData\Local\StateOfDecay2\Saved\SaveGames\2533274795706131\Release\v2

please note the random jumble of numbers depends on each computer. it is the same directory, just a different mess of numbers

in this directory you will find files such as save0.sav and usersave.sav. if they do not exist, do please make a community to sacrifice to the corporate overlords of undead labs. seriously, do it. you will replace them with your microturd store community
part 2: preperation (microturd store directory)
C:\Users\(MyName)\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Dayton_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs\

inside you will find a bunch of files. same rules as steam verison apply but do note the biggest file in the bunch, and before anything, back up every file in this directory, as next step is hit or miss until its done right
Part 3: the good stuff
when you have found your directories, and backed up each, do the following:

take the files from microturd store version, and drag them to steam store version, and note the biggest file (it will likey be your favorite community)

change it from name of origional to save0.sav (aka first save slot on steam version)

then, load game to confirm it works.

as for daybreak brownie points (aka prestige points), if applicable, do the following:

same process, but for either of the other three files, and change it to SaveUser.save.

Try with each file until it actually shows up in game with the points.

as of time of writing, there is a cure being processed for the bug with entitlements not showing up, but will as of now not show up.

Have Fun! :D
Wall of honor
many many special super amazing thanks to the following fine steam user, without her, this could not have been found out.

I tried it just now and it worked. The only difference from the guide is that the steam save is not in that path described, but in this one:
C:\Users\(my-name)\AppData\Local\StateOfDecay2\Saved\Steam\(numers)\(numers)\Release\v2

In case anyone else finds themselves in this position, yes this technique worked for me. BUT this guide is somewhat out of date. My save data on Steam is not called "Save0".sav or "Save1".sav...the save files are called "SaveGame_Vanilla_0" or _1 and the heartland save file is "SaveGame_Heartland_0". The user data appears the same as instructed, being "SaveUser".sav. I appear to have all of my communities and inventories intact now. :) Coming from Xbox to steam it also appears to have automatically transferred my achievement progress as well as my legacy boons without having to import any kind of save data, just logging in gave me those. So yes this guide works if you rename the files accordingly. It's still kinda guess work which Xbox files are going to be which Steam files but sure enough the biggest file is likely your main community.

fair enough. sorry for my confusion on what you meant before. now im curious if anyone else is willing to as well, or if it should be taken down for being outdated

you're the author. I know you believe it works. asking for someone besides you to verify it. thats what verify means

this was posted over 3 years ago, and worked then. things could have changed. i have no clue

Not a single person can verify it's works. not a good sign :steamfacepalm:
