How the Upgrade system works

I was initially a bit confused by how upgrades work, but after just playing through I figured it out and figured I would write a quick guide for anybody else experiencing that confusion.

Unlocking upgrades
There are 3 upgrades per girl, making a total of 21 upgrades in the game. Upon getting an upgrade it is permanently activated and will display in yellow text on the girl selection menu.

The first upgrade next to easy can be acquired in either easy OR challenging, so you don't need to play both difficulties if you're going for 100% completion. This upgrade is obtained after surviving the first miniboss. That means that if a level is too hard for you on challenging, you can beat it on easy, play a bit of the next level, and then go back to the previous level on challenging.

The second upgrade is obtained upon completion of "challenge" difficulty. That's all for this one.

The last upgrade is obtained in the gallery. All you have to do is take a screenshot in a girl's gallery and you'll receive the corresponding upgrade. This means you can obtain it after completing the mission on either easy or challenging.

And that's all there is to it! Have fun!

I've played and beaten several Touhou, games, but I'm hardly a pro. I have 2.6 hours in Ahegal, but I also finished the game once before they added cards & achievements, then complete it 100% after the fact. Should take you no more than 2 hours regardless of skill level, probably around 1-1.5 if you're at least half-decent at bullet hells.

How long game took to finish? Is it hard on challenging? I buy these games cheap for cards and easy achievements so if its going to eat time, I can skip playing? I have written 3 guides and dozen reviews of similar Hentai games too.

On laptops you need to hold the "Fn" button and then press the F12 key (it works this way for all other F# buttons too). Kind of like when you do Ctrl + V but for F keys instead.

For me the f12 button on my laptop increases the brightness rather then takes a screen shot so how can I get the achievement for that? Also how do I get to the mini bosses?

It tells you when your cursor over the girls on the stage select menu.
