During Gerald's 5th mission at Woodenshade, you'll have the opportunity to earn 14000 EXP for Gerald's campaign. It is extremely straightforward to do and offers a massive boon in Gerald's campaign.

This guide contains minor spoilers

To earn the bonus experience, you must have completed Gerald's campaign up to his 5th mission,
the battle of Woodenshade.

The mission begins with Gerald and General Hugh engaging Regnier and his forces while the archers and the King retreat to the south past the forest.

Once the King and archers have retreated to their designated point, Gerald and Hugh will follow suit. You'll then have your archers set the forest ablaze and watch as the orcs turn to crispy bacon.

However, Regnier will pass through the fire and continue on unscathed with his remaining troops. Gerald and Hugh will engage Regnier until Hugh commands Gerald to escape with the king. Instead of running away, this is what you must do to earn the bonus EXP.

1. Have Gerald continue to fight Regnier alongside Hugh, no matter how much he tells you to run away. Keep cutting down those LV 50 Orcs, stay away from Regnier.

2. Have your archers begin firing on the battle and casting curatio here and there to keep your unit strength up.

Hugh won't die as he's programmed to hold off Regnier's force and Regnier's unit will slowly lose health. Once Regnier's unit is destroyed, Hugh will simply stand in place baffled that you A. kill a level 50 and B. Disobeyed his orders *again*. He dies of shock after the mission ends. Good job "General Gerald."

When you finish the mission and the experience/gold screen is shown, you'll reeive 14,000 EXP (7000 for your archers and 7000 for Gerald).

@Bot Ulric you miss out on half the EXP if you only engage with your archers, the point is to get the max EXP with both of your troops engaged with Regnier's unit. It's not difficult at all to do so there is no reason not to unless you don't care about losing out on another 7000 EXP.

There is a more easy way, BURN THEM, just keep ur troops away and the archers doing the fire thing, is way more slower BUT you dont loose troops

@TrueLight1997 You can kill them all, even the level 100 it just take a lot of kiting around the opening in the wall and keeping Rupert behind it. The AI has altered pathfinding so they kite around awkwardly trying to get to Rupert's unit instead. For some reason the archers respond to agro from a scout by moving forward instead of using all their range to fire arrows so you're able to pull them really close as well. I don't kill them all for the XP because it obviously caps but you can get something like 52K+ gold.

on Gareld mission when escorting Rubert Paladins you can possibly attack like 2 of the high level troops while Rubert cast healing on you.
I attack a lvl 40 axeman and lvl 50 infantry I think just make sure you dont bring archers on you and you'll get 7000 exp after completing it just for gerald though sense Rubert leaves.

Don't forget, with a little patience and a few hours to kill, you can get the extra 300 exp per run at the beginning of the Gerald/Hugh/Regnier mission as well. Just set the forest on fire as directed and if the fire kills both lvl 12 Heavy Orc units, you'll get the 300 exp. If Gerald has to fight any, you get 100 exp. Rinse and repeat as much as you like to get infinite exp, letting you level GHerald and the Archers to 25-30 before advancing the mission, and netting your tip of the 14k exp. That 14k will come in handy later for making some mortar troops, since Eldric (archer captain) and The Sapper Captain don't have access to the skill necessary to upgrade those troops to mortar units.

Lucretia I think in her 3rd mission when Morene grades you for the first time, fight in the forest when she grades you 9/10 and you heal fully during her text she will give you a 10/10, netting you I believe 1450 bonus exp. You can go back to the worldmap, save and repeat.

Regnier during his 10th mission I believe when he has to find 10 dragon tombs there is a unlimited number of encablossa troops that spawn that attack the nearest troop. Simply have Regnier, a orc heavy rider and dark elves archers and just set your riders to go through the battle, your archer to fire from behind while they also cast the healing tree and Regnier tanks all units. You can ramp up 21k on that mission.

Kendal with a really narrow time window with bonus EXP again. It's that mission when you have to survive and get saved by Gerald (dunno what mission that was) right before the end (timing isn't really forgiving) you can go back to the worldmap and still receive the 30000 EXP. Save and repeat.
