How to level up Unarmed skill.

! The numbers depend on your ST and AG !

Raises to 55% if your Unarmed is 40% or above - Lucas / Arroyo near the big stone head.
+ If your Melee Weapons skill is 35% or higher speak to Jordan / tent to the right from the stone head +10% to Melee Weapons,
+10% to Unarmed AND Melee Weapons - John Sullivan / Klamath golden gecko bar.
Level up Unarmed with your skill points to 84%, then go to Dragon in San Francisco - Chinatown (or Lo Pan if you have bad karma) and take 4-5 lessons ~101% (unequip APA if you already got it),
After that eat 2 Buffout (Save/Load if you don't want to get addicted) and wait 6:00 for debuffs ~88% (debuffs will end in 12 hours), take a few lessons from Dragon ~101% + 14%,
In Sierra Army Depot on the first floor there are 2 punching bags, use both +10%,
Go to New Reno boxing club and become a Prizefighter (+5% Unarmed AND +5% Damage Resistance).

Result ~130% Unarmed.

Punch - Base damage; 3AP
Strong Punch - Req: Unarmed 55%, Agility 6; Damage+3; 3AP
Hammer Punch - Req: Unarmed 75%, Agility 6, Strength 5, level 6; Damage+5; 3AP; Crit+5%
Haymaker - Req: Unarmed 100%, Agility 7, Strength 5, level 9; Damage+7; 3AP; Crit+15%

Secondary punch attacks:

Jab - Req: Unarmed 75%, Agility 7, Strength 5, level 5; Damage+3; 3AP; Crit+10%
Palm Strike - Req: Unarmed 115%, Agility 7, Strength 5, level 12; Damage+7, armor piercing; 6AP; Crit+15%
Piercing Strike - Req: Unarmed 130%, Agility 7, Strength 5, Level 16; Damage+10, armor piercing; 8AP; Crit+40%

Primary kick attacks:

Kick - Base damage; 4AP
Strong Kick - Req: Unarmed 40%, Agility 6; Damage+5; 4AP
Snap Kick - Req: Unarmed 60%, Agility 6, Level 6; Damage+7; 4AP

You can't try this exploit out if you play Fallout 2 with mods RP/RPU or UP/UPU. Because those mods patch this exploit.

I don't understand how anyone makes reasonably fast progress in this game without tagging unarmed and pumping it asap. The knife and crowbar aren't much better than sharp spear if at all and guns take an insane amount of ap for 1/4 the damage I could do with unarmed at the point in the game. It's like the devs knew because you can get those spiked knuckles almost immediately. There's just so many skills and from what I've read so many of them are useless =/ creating a balanced character is a death sentence.

There is something incredibly satisfying in leg-sweeping your opponent for a critical, only to curb stomp them while down. Slayer is just too good.

Maximise Unarmed (non tagged)

Strength 4 Agility 9

Raise to 55 by talking to Lucas

Reduce Karma by 265 without pissing off the world
Arroyo - steal elder -3
- steal aunt -3
- refuse to help cousin -3
The Den - dig graves -75
Modoc - Collect coins from well - 13
- let jo cut off pinky - 10
Redding - graves -35
Golgotha - graves - 140
New Reno - steal from church -3
kill traveler -5

Find Lo Pao and train 20 points Unarmed. (75)

Raise Karma to >250 points.

Use 18 skill points to raise Unarmed to exactly 93

1st training - 98
2nd training 103
take 2 buffouts and wait 6 hours - 89
3rd training - 94 , 108 after
take 2 buffouts and wait 6 hours - 94
use skill 5 points to increase to 99
4th training - 104, 118 after

Unarmed skill - 118% total skill points expended 23.

Now Apply
Sullivan (Klamath) - 10%
SAD - 10%
Prize fighter - 5%
Apply the Agility +1 from EPA
Apply the Strength +1 from Vault City

The Dragon only trains good-aligned character with positive Karma. If you are evil and have negative Karma, Lo Pan can train you.
