How to get MKK and GFWL Working on Windows 8

Although GFWL is on its way out, not all games will replace it with Steamworks. Until then, try this guide if you have Windows 8 and are having problems. This should help. I still haven't upgraded to 8.1 yet so if anyone can confirm this guide works with that too, that would be great.

How to Get MKK Working for Windows 8 64bit
FOLLOW STEPS EXACTLY! Don't you dare skip any steps!

1. Uninstall “Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE Redistributable” AND “Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace”

2. Reboot Computer (DON'T SKIP THIS)

3. Download GFWL here:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5549

4. Right click the GFWL installer, go to properties and change its compatibility to “Windows 7”. Save and exit.

5. Right click the installer, and choose “Run as administrator”

6. After it’s installed, run the GFWL game again.

Voila!

This worked for me! Oh and DON'T SKIP ANY OF THESE STEPS!

just download a GFWL package from pcgamingwiki, the installer on the Microsoft's site was outdated anyway

Windows 10.
The procedure is:
Go into Apps and Features on Windows 10 (right click on the Start Menu to reach it), and uninstall “Microsoft Games for Windows – LIVE Redistributable” and “Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace”.
Reboot your system. (This IS required.)
Download two GWFL files: xlive.ini and xlive.dll. You can download them from my Dropbox here ( https:// / www. dropbox. com/s/ be930uac7fnsiuf/MKAK_fix.rar?dl=0) .
Place the two files into your MKAK install directory. The default should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection.
The game should now work properly.

For me on Windows 10 x64, works, after copy the xlive.dll and xlive.ini from instruction: to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection
