How to increase visual fidelity (Will cost you quite a bit of performance)
By Fusiontech
This guide will help you use the hidden setting that is above Ultra and will simply come up in game as 'setting text' this will improve a lot of things with soft shadows being the most noticeable improvement

What will this improve?
This will improve basically all details with the most notable being soft shadow quality being much more improved, however this will come at a bit of a cost.

Step 1
Type run on the bottom right then copy and paste this

%LocalAppData%\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
Step 2
Once you're there, click on GameUserSettings.ini
Step 3
Now you'll see this in your notepad

[ScalabilityGroups]
sg.ResolutionQuality=100.000000
sg.ViewDistanceQuality=3
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=3
sg.ShadowQuality=3
sg.PostProcessQuality=3
sg.TextureQuality=3
sg.EffectsQuality=3
sg.FoliageQuality=3

Change the values of all of them except for ResolutionQuality to 4
Performance
That's all there is to do, now you can play your game with improved visuals.
As for performance I play it with uncapped fps and I was getting about 180 FPS on average with 100% resolution and the ultra preset on the survivor tutorial level since it was the most consistent.

When changing the values for better visuals I got about 135 FPS so there is a bit of a performance hit but I'm sure most mid to high end pcs will be able to handle it just fine, unless you're playing against doc of course but that hasn't been tested :)

My specs:
GPU: RTX 2080 SUPER OC
CPU: Intel Core i7 8700
RAM: Hyperx 16 GB

Yeah I'm not too sure on that one but if you have like a 1060 or something it should be okay

Be interesting to see the fps for a more average video card that the majority could use to compare.

Zoom in on the soft shadows on both versions you'll see the editied version is higher res and is a lot more defined then the blobby non edited version

If you look at the screenshots you would see the main difference being the soft shadows and just shadows in general, I've noticed it does improve draw distance by quite a bit as well so there's that
