I would say however, that the note that barbarians are bad for situations where you are under heavy attack is not correct in my experience. Any mission where I will be under heavy siege I will exclusively rely on barbarians and usually that will allow me to succeed the mission on the first try by keeping cash reserves on hand to allow me to deploy rage of krolm in the right moment.
The poison upgrade from the Rogue's Guild adds a small damage over time effect (it isn't particularly strong but seems to help lower level squishy characters kill threats before the monster kills them; it is probably more useful early scenario than late scenario on the whole).
