Introduction
This simple guide will demonstrate how to use family controls to create an additional layer of security to your account in the situation where someone gains access to your account.

If you have sent a cookie containing your login credentials and mobile authentication code then sadly your account could be hijacked/hacked. Following this guide you will allow additional time for you to change your login credentials whilst your login credentials are compromised but your account is left unaltered.

This guide could be considered a remedy to compromised login credentials but do not treat it as so; if your login credentials have been compromised, changed them as soon as possible. Check your URLs before signing in and keep your account safe.

Turning on family view

Firstly, head over to your settings and turn on family view.

Turn off all the privileges under family view, set library content to certain games and when you are prompted on those games select none of them.

Finally, set a four pin code for this family view and you will have to do an email verification.
How it will looks
After setting up the family view, you will notice a new red button at the top right. When it is red, you're not in family view and when it is green you are. To check you have set family view up correctly, click on it and turn family view on.

Below is how my account looks under family view, not able to play any games, use the social side of Steam or its market.

Whenever you login to your Steam account, you will start in family view. Therefore, in the situation where your account is compromised, there will be an additional layer of security that will have to be overcome to have full access to your account.
