○ Sometimes certain characters can't recruit the allowed units. This is a bug that appears with a character who joined the faction in the mid-game. Just save the game and load it again.

○ Maximum rank increased to 15. Total experience value requirements up to level 15 are the same as vanilla.

○ Each character has an additional skillset. You can see it at the bottom of the character info frame. These skills have unique effects, such as unlocking the exclusive units, assignments. Unique characters have unique effects.
(Only Han, Bandits, Yellow Turban characters have this mechanic.)

○ Changed some backgrounds, Wuxing and skill effects of the characters.



○ Reduced HP, splash attack and ability performance of the heroes. Heroes are still stronger than ordinary units, but they are easily repelled when surrounded by high tier units.

The physical strength, attack range, and Ability performance of the characters have been reduced. Longevity is still stronger than normal units, but they are easily repelled when surrounded by layers.

○ Increased low tier weapon performance. Heroes are now less dependent on their weapons.




○ Commander and Strategist can duel when they have 100+ stats of expertise or resolve or instinct.

○ TROM adds a lot of units, which also replaces the existing vanilla units. Some vanilla units have removed for each faction's individuality.

○ In Trom, each unit belongs to a unit tier. Depending on the tier, its performance and upkeep are different. So the player should manage the legion in a proper way.




○ Player can check the unit tier in the unit card icon and description frame.

○ All units are divided into 3 tiers :

• Militia (1): Militia has low recruitment costs and upkeep, but low morale and low quality equipment.
  
• Buqu (2): Buqu is a word that refers to the private soldiers at that time. These are the backbone of the Legion.
  
• Elite (3): They are generally the best units. It's the top of each unit category and has excellent performance.

○ Wuxing rule is more stricter than vanilla in TROM. Characters can only recruit units that match their Wuxing.

But most of the characters can get additional Wuxing type via their additional skillset, and some units have dual Wuxing type, so each character may recruit various units.




○ Most units are classified as the following Wuxing types.

• Black : Not related to specific Wuxing. Any type of character can recruit this unit.
  
• Purple : 金 Wuxing type. Sentinel characters can recruit this unit.
  
• Green : 木 Wuxing type. Champion characters can recruit this unit.
  
• Blue : 水 Wuxing type. Strategist characters can recruit this unit.
  
• Red : 火 Wuxing type. Vanguard characters can recruit this unit.
  
• Yellow : 土 Wuxing type. Commander characters can recruit this unit.

○ Some units have a dual Wuxing types. In this case, it will be able to recruit just by matching one Wuxing type.




○ In the case of Yellow Turbans, There are dedicated units depending on the Yellow Turban character class.

○ In the case of Nanman, Depending on the Wuxing skill of Nanman character, the matching units of Wuxing type will be unlocked.



○ In Han factions, the units will be unlocked by the faction rank.

• Noble : Militia, Overall Buqu units

○ In Nanman faction, The units are unlocked by the reforms and tribal confederation. It doesn't require a character rank, But there are units caps for some units.

○ If a Nanman character is recruited to a Han faction, it's possible to recruit exclusive soldiers instead of the Han units. This is affected by the character rank. Conversely, if a Han character is recruited to a Nanman faction, it's possible to recruit some Han units instead of the Nanman units.



○ Most factions have their exclusive units.

○ Some characters may recruit their exclusive units.

○ There are units those are unlocked by the special followers can be obtained during certain missions and occupation.

• Northern Army : Characters equipped with a Northern Army Colonel follower can recruit these units. This follower is acquired whenever Cao Cao, Yuan Shao, Yuan Shu, Gongsun Zan, Liu Chong, Dong Zhuo faction completes dedicated missions, and other Han factions can loot it.
  
• Xiliang Army : Characters equipped with a Xiliang Army Colonel follower can recruit these units. This follower is given to the Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu at the start of the campaign.
  
• Sogd Mercenaries : Characters equipped with a Sogdian Officer follower can recruit these units. This accessory is obtained through the Sogdian Merchants incident.

○ The basic weapon hit rate has been reduced from 100% to 76%. Instead, units get an additional hit rate of up to 24% (commonly called by "melee hit" in the Total War series) depending on their weapon. This is called additional melee hit bonus in TROM. This number is usually low with spear and two-handed armour piercing weapons, and higher with one-handed weapons such as swords and swords.

○ All weapons have different weapon damage depending on the unit's tier.

○ One-handed axe no longer destroys shields. Ji has the effect of reducing the speed of movement of the attacking opponent.

○ Cavalry units perform at varying unit tiers and weights. Light cavalry is only useful in chasing enemies, but heavy cavalry is also highly efficient in melee combat.

○ Some special units use unusual weapons such as heavy bow that penetrate enemies and spreading poison gas and more.

○ The army consumes the local stockpiles and obtains military supplies within the own province. So, if a large number of armies were concentrated in one place, the local stocks would soon run out.

○ If the army occupies an enemy settlement and captures it without looting, military supplies are lost.





○ The minor settlements have a building slot. You can build a dedicated attachment building here. Some factions have unique attachment buildings.

• Confucius Institute : This building increases the characters experience and satisfaction.
  Can be built in Penchang (Luxian).
  
  
• Qiang : This building unlocks Qiang units and provides capacity.
  Can be built in Wudu (Shanggui, Yinping), Wuwei (Lingzhou, Xiutu), Jincheng (Tianshui, Zhanyin).
  
  
• Shanyue : This building unlocks Shanyue units and provides capacity.
  Can be built in Jian'an (Jiangle), Luling (Yangdu), Poyang (Guangchang, Lean), Xindu (Wuhu, Xin'an), Yuzhang (Geyang).
  
  
• Wuhuan : This building unlocks Wuhuan units and provides capacity.
  Can be built in Zhongshan (Changshan), Guangyang (Junmi), Liaoxi (Liucheng), Youbeiping (Linyu), Dai (Zhuo Lu), Yanmen (Fanzhi).
  
  
• Xiongnu: This building unlocks Xiongnu units and provides capacity.
  Can be built in
  Shoufang (Dacheng, Pingding, Sheyan), Anding (Canluan, Gaonu).

○ The Han factions can implement two reforms at a time.

○ For Bandits and Yellow Turbans, the final tier unit capacity increases in proportion to the completed research.

Common

○ Faction can implement reforms twice every spring.

○ Each unit can use all forrmations without any conditions.

○ Units are unlocked by faction rank.


Cao Cao

○ Cao Cao faction has a mission that gives Northern Army Officer followers as a reward.

○ In AD 190 campaign, There is a mission to defeat the Yellow Turban army. Once completed, Cao Cao faction will be able to recruit Qingzhou units.

○ This faction can perform mission lines that rewards the Northern Army colonel followers.


Yuan Shao

○ This faction can perform mission lines that rewards the Northern Army colonel followers.


Yuan Shau

○ This faction can perform mission lines that rewards the Northern Army colonel followers.


Sun Jian, Sun Ce

○ They can build a unique attachment building, the Mercenary Outpost. It provides mercenary captain attendants.


Liu Biao

○ Liu Biao faction can build a unique attachment building, Zhong Bu. It provides House Servant and Local Noble units. In the region where the building affects, the upkeep of these units is free.


Gongsun Zan

○ New faction resource : Stratocracy. Stratocracy is increased when an army is garrisoned in a settlement. also it provides a military advantages.

○ When an army is garrisoned in a settlement, the settlement gains various additional bonuses.

○ This faction can perform mission lines that rewards the Northern Army colonel followers.


Ma Teng

○ New faction resource : Horse Breeding. If the Horse Breeding value is low, the replenishment of cavalry units will be decreased. And if it is high, it gives bonuses to cavaly units but increases their upkeep.

○ New assignment : Sell Horses. Decreases Horse Breeding value, earn treasury.


Dong Zhuo

○ Dong Zhuo faction has Xiliang colonel followers in the early campaign.

○ This faction can perform mission lines that rewards the Northern Army colonel followers.


Lu Bu

○ Lu Bu faction has Xiliang colonel followers in the early campaign.


Liu Chong

○ This faction can perform mission lines that rewards the Northern Army colonel followers.

[1] This event triggers only in the AD 190 campaign. In subsequent campaigns, the condition mission has already been completed.

[2] Tao Qian faction has completed this event at the start. So this event is triggered only for Liu Bei faction in the AD 190 campaign.

[1] This follower can be obtained when the player completes the Sogdian Merchants event. The Sogdian Merchants event is triggered for the Han factions when the faction has enough treasury.
