yes you can use a controller for player 1 or single player game
If you hit any keyboard buttons at the opening screen, the game selects keyboard as the default input for player 1. To get around this, have your controller connected and ready before starting the game. When the game starts, press buttons on the controller until the menu shows up. You should now be able to use the controller for player 1.

Hope this helps!

I'm gonna be that guy and reply to a 4 year old comment on a 9 year old thread. @dawnrezac, did you not even look at any of the pictures in the store? Like it just seems like gross negligence to not even view a single picture of the product (of which every single one would've told you this game is nothing like sacred 1&2).

Thank you for your answer, I figured as much. I didn't see that anywhere before I purchased the game and I guess I can chalk it up to lesson learned. Again thanks for your help.

This game is very different from Sacred 1 or 2, it's a side-scrolling beat-em up, not an isometric action RPG. I'm not sure how a mouse control would work? You attack left or right and move in 8 cardinal directions so the controls are probably best covered by a controller or keys on the keyboard.

Is there a way to use a mouse instead of a game controller. Sacred Gold and Sacred Gold 2 are both mouse friendly. I purchased this game thinking the same same, was I wrong?
