Ruler-class Escort Carrier

Beskrivning
The Ruler-class Escort Carrier is the first post-Colony ship designed and constructed by the New Canada Navy. As such the vessel is not without compromises.

Designed primarily to transport starfighters into combat, the Ruler-class lacks almost all capital ship grade weaponry (With the exception of several torpedo tubes), focusing almost entirely on point defenses. Due to the need to keep weight down to allow the ship to operate within planetary atmospheres, the ship is almost entirely reliant on her shields for defense. Thrusters are more exposed than on other vessels, making them particularly vulnerable. For this reason, Ruler-class carriers are commonly assigned at least two escort vessels. Two or three Ruler-class Escort Carriers will generally form the backbone of a task force, along with Wickes-class Destroyers and/or Minotaur-class Battlecruisers, depending on the mission profile.

Ruler-class Escort carriers are typically no match for the equivalent, more specialized UME vessels, and must rely on hit-and-fade tactics, rapidly deploying starfighters to attack an objective, recovering, and jumping out before significant reinforcements can arrive.

The vessel can carry six Starfighters, six Dropships, or any combination of medium-sized auxiliary vessels. The ship also possesses two auxiliary garages Port and Starboard for shuttlepods and auxiliary craft. The vessel makes use of the standard gravitic drive system to augment it's acceleration in open space, but within atmosphere is is entirely reliant upon conventional thrusters.

Ruler-class vessels are typically named for Old Earth monarchs. Current known vessels in service are the Victoria (Pictured here), the Elizabeth, the Anne, and the William.
