Map of Key Locations
Several achievements require you to visit certain locations in the game, so I've made the below map with those spots marked.

Character Achievements
Note: This section does not include hidden achievements related to characters. For those, please see the Hidden Achievements section below.

Thought I Lost Something

Find and talk to your nephew Alex. This can be achieved in any playthrough.

The Spirit of Revolution

Find and talk to Preacher Isaac in his chapel. His location will be revealed after you speak with Alex or give the helpful npc the item they are looking for.

Note: Security will always increase around a church containing a preacher, so approach with caution.

The Revolutionary Spirit

Find and talk to Preacher Rebecca in her chapel. His location will be revealed after you speak with Alex or give the helpful npc the item they are looking for.

Note: Security will always increase around a church containing a preacher, so approach with caution.

Paradise to Some

Talk to Billie about Freedom Town. It's easiest to wait until she is the helpful npc marked on your map at the beginning of the game.

Back to the Jungle

Meet Charles on the firing range. It's easiest to wait until he is the helpful npc marked on your map at the beginning of the game.

Tip: Approach Charles slowly, as he will shoot if he thinks you are a threat. If you have any guns in your inventory, he will demand you turn them over. If you want to avoid this, search a trunk or chest and swap your guns out with the items you find before speaking to him.

Lost in the Open

Meet KeeAnne by the river. It's easiest to wait until she is the helpful npc marked on your map at the beginning of the game.

Waiting for Collapse

Meet Scooter and hear his story.

Note: Scooter is not available at the beginning of the game. You will receive the message after completing enough playthroughs that he may now appear. While Scooter will not be the helpful npc marked on the map, you can still run into him and talk.

Tip: Scooter will give you information if you give him painkillers. Though not required, if you choose to take this route, be aware he will take all painkillers in your inventory if you offer them.

Thought I Knew

Meet Theresa on the playground. It's easiest to wait until she is the helpful npc marked on your map at the beginning of the game.
Gameplay Achievements
Before I Fall Into Despair

In a single playthrough, read all the messages written in sticks. Stick message locations are marked on the above map.

Tip: Messages can change from game to game and may give hints as to the personalities of the preachers.

Locked Around Your Spine

Find the secluded "pits" area. This is marked on the above map as "secret pits".

Looking For an Alienist

Find the medical facility in the woods. This is marked on the above map as "alienist."

Room for One More

Find the empty grave. This is marked on the above map as "empty grave."

Ending is the Beginning

Get to the end of one story.

I've Always Been Around You

Get to the end of ten stories.

Tip: Check which endings you've reached by going to the Endings screen of the main menu. If you're having trouble reaching new endings, see my endings guide for help.

The Unknown Unknown

Finish a game without being spotted at all.

Tip: Make sure to start the game with townperson clothing and upgrade your disguise if possible. You may also find tranquilizer darts and alarm clocks useful. If you're having trouble unlocking this achievement, try playing on Interloper difficulty, so you can see the guards' sight lines for longer.

Live Hard

Finish a game on "Spy" or greater difficulty.

Note: You can unlock this and One Shot, One Life but playing on Mole difficulty.

One Shot, One Life

Finish a game on "Mole" difficulty.

I Have Yet Begun

Started ten stories.

Note: You don't have to get to the end of ten stories to unlock this, so don't worry if you're killed before completing a game.

Three Sides

Get Isaac & Rebecca's location marked on your map. Alex will do this for you if you talk to him, or one of the helpful npcs will if you bring them the item they want.

On Brand

Find all five pins in one playthrough.

Note: Pins can be found in message boards throughout the map, though not all boards will have pins, and it's possible to find duplicates. Below is a list of locations and the number of message boards found in each. Keep searching them until you have found all pins and the achievement pops up.

Tip: One of the message boards in the West Field is inside a shed against a wall and difficult to see.
  • Dining Hall: 2 (one is on the path between the Dining Hall and South Cottages)
  • South Cottages: 2
  • Unnamed area between South Cottages and East Fields: 1
  • East Fields: 1
  • West Fields: 2
  • Church: 2
  • East Cottages: 1
  • North Cottages: 1
  • Orchard: 1
  • Theater: 2

Never Realized

Find ten documents in one playthrough. Documents can be found by searching through desks.

Maybe They Will Remember Us

Find thirty documents in one playthrough. Documents can be found by searching through desks.

Just Some Air

Do three of any takedown.

Feel No Pain

Do twenty of any takedown.

Lookaway

Distract three guards with rocks.

I'm Just Looking for My Family

Stick someone up and search them. Simply aim the gun at a civilian and approach them until the search option appears.

Tip: Make sure no guards are nearby when doing this.

Soon I'll Let You Go

Stick up and search ten people. Simply aim the gun at a civilian and approach them until the search option appears.

Tip: Make sure no guards are nearby when doing this.

Until You Sacrifice It All

Get captured and hear from Isaac.

Warm Embrace of Sleep

Hide someone in a trunk/closet/shed. You must subdue or kill them first.

Got a Letter from the Government

In a single game, destroy ten alarm boxes.

Tip: Make sure to start the game with metal shards and pick up any you find to help unlock this achievement.
Hidden Achievements
Final Memories

Find Ernest's Photo and return it to Billie. It can be found in one of the red chests in the chapels.

Taken

Find the evidence and deliver it to Charles. It can be found in one of the red chests in the chapels.

Note: The specific document will change depending on the preacher personalities.

Clarity of Vision

Find the evidence KeeAnne wants. It can be found in one of the red chests in the chapels.

Note: The specific document will change depending on the preacher personalities.

Learn to Swim

Free Scooter from his cage.

Note: Scooter will not appear in a cage in every game, so be sure to keep a lookout for when he is. If he's in a cage, Scooter will usually be located in an area with a larger number of cages, such as the secluded pits.

Cry Beloved

Find the children's address for Theresa. "Letter from Camp Cuba" can be found in one of the red chests in the chapels.

Devoted

In a single playthrough, visit all the chapels. See the map above for all chapel locations.

Dedication to the Cause

In a single game, stand on all the stages, cross all the bridges, and survive for an hour. Stages are marked on the above map. Bridges are marked on all in-game maps.

Note: I'm not sure the theater stage is require for this achievement, but I've marked it on the map just in case.

Tip: Make sure to check the time that you start playing for this achievement, so you know how long you have to go. If you run out of things to do or want to avoid the guards, feel free to hang out by the insertion point after completing the other tasks for this achievement.

Walk a Mile

Finished a game with all the different preacher personalities. There are four different combinations (Destruction - both, Destruction - Isaac, Destruction - Rebecca, Peaceful - both).

Tip: You can figure out which personalities you've played by checking the endings screen. Please see my endings guide for more info.

Respect for All

Finish a game without anyone dying (during or after). This means you must avoid killing any guards along with Alex and the preachers.

Tip: If you are going for this achievement when destructive personalities are at play, make sure to abduct the destructive preacher (or one of them if both have this personality).

Written on the Wind

Finish a game in fifteen minutes or less.

Tip: I recommend going straight to the helpful npc, getting Alex's location, talking to him, then immediately returning to the insertion point to get this achievement. Just make sure "The Turnaround" chapter title appears once you've talked to Alex.

Never Liked Them

Finish a game without ever having a gun in your inventory.

Joining the Fold

In a single game, wear all the disguises. There are three in-game disguises: townsperson clothing, guard clothing, and red guard clothing.

Note: Make sure you have unlocked all disguises before going for this achievement.

Tip: Choose townsperson clothing as one of your starting items so you have to hunt down one less disguise.

I'm Losing It

In a single game, fire all the guns. There are 5 guns in total: pistol, shotgun, rifle, tranquilizer gun, and tranquilizer rifle.

Tip: Guns can be found by searching guards after they're incapacitated. Blue guards have pistols, red guards have shotguns, and green guards have rifles.

Butterfly

Distract thirty guards with rocks. I wouldn't bother to keep count on this, unless you really hate using the rocks as a distraction. You should be able to achieve it in the course of multiple playthroughs.

Tip: If you want to gain this achievement quickly, look for areas with a large cluster of guards and focus on distracting them all at once.

Over and Over

Get captured ten times.

Note: If you are playing with two destructive preachers, they may kill you in the cage instead of giving you the chance to escape, making multiple captures in a single game impossible.

Tip: If you want to be captured multiple times in a single game, try playing on Interloper or Medium difficulty, as you are more easily killed on the higher difficulties.

Happy Place

Hide twenty people in trunks. You must subdue or kill people before doing this.

Create a Villain

Get the alarm set off twenty times. To set off the alarm, make sure you are spotted, then try to run past/near an alarm box, so the guards pursuing you will activate it.

Tip: Keep plenty of metal shards or override wires on hand if you want to set the alarm off again without waiting for it to deactivate on its own.

Did You Forget Your Name?

In a single game, free five people from cages.

Tip: It's easiest to look for clusters of cages. If you aren't sure someone's in a cage, press to view the sight lines to see if yellow civilian lines are coming from it. Opening a cage holding a corpse does not count toward this achievement.
