Optimal Climb Speed for French Props

Climbing at the specified Indicated Air Speed will allow you to reach 6 kilometers in the least amount of time.

Make sure to enable indicated air speed in the options before using information in this guide.

The chart contains most propeller airplanes.

For those of you who use Manual Engine Controls:
  • Set all available radiator flaps to 100% (open).
  • Set mixture to rich as appropriate.
  • Set propeller pitch to 100%.
  • Adjust mixture accordingly throughout flight to maintain maximum engine RPM and optimal horsepower, subject to altitude.
  • Change supercharger gears at recorded horsepower output/elevation.

Refer to these for individual airplane quirks.

* <100% mixture not modeled.
** It is not possible to climb to 6000m from SL on WEP without overheating the engine.
*** Due to fixed propeller pitch, excessive speeds will over rev the engine. Reduce throttle.
**** Plane cannot reach 6000m in a sustained climb.
***** Recommend using auto prop pitch to avoid over revving the engine. Otherwise, there is no prop governor to prevent over revving.

Yes sorry it is a typo, I didn't convert the mph to kph for this one(its 225 kph).

Is the Martin 167-A3 a typo? It says 140 on the sheet, but I think its supposed to be 240, because it stalls before reaching 140 in game. @wastoid

There's no prop pitch handle in its cockpit so in auto controls I can't see what the pitch is set at. I do believe by default its 100 but even then 100 sucks.

The Yak-3 information for the French premium version is from the War Thunder forum data sheet which lists the real world optimal climb speed. The speed on the Russian Yak-3 is from the chart made by The Kiwi with actual in-game data.

I probably should have just used the data from Kiwi's chart in both but you will just have to use your own judgment if you want to go with the real world data sheet or Kiwi's data.
