*SOLUTION* Stuck on difficulty screen / Controller unresponsive

Easy.

1. Steam settings

2. Click 'Controller tab'

3. Click 'Ceneral controller settings'

4. Select 'Playstation configuration support' [Or whatever brand of controller you're using (e.g. Microsoft Xbox), this also includes generic USB controllers].

I still can't get it to navigate the menus though? Like the game works find, i just can't change settings.

I was about to refund this game because my controller was still not working, turns out i still had my guitar hero controller plugged in, pro tip dont have other controllers plugged in still.
