Never played Mega Man cause the only games we had was Super Mario, Battle City, Bomber Man, Tetris, TMNT and Contra. Some people had Earthworm Jim. These games didn't require special things like bit shifters or save batteries so they were cheap to pirate in the 90's. Whole Russian market was just flooded by crappy pirated games that either were bugged or glitched or were cut (for example, some dialogs, cutscenes and sound) or even were modded to have infinite health or other cheat things. They may just freeze on a particular place in game. Oh, we didn't even had NES, we had Dendy. Basically NES but cheaper, usually had built-in games and were not repairable. They had just a single blob IC on their PCB. And yes, that was 90's. Russia got 8-bit consoles widespread around the time PS1 came out in Japan.
