The Mil Mi-2 (NATO reporting name Hoplite) is a small, lightly armed turbine-powered transport helicopter that could also provide close air support when armed with 57 mm rockets and a 23 mm cannon although the helicopter can be fitted with other armaments that can accomplish other tasks at hand.

Originating in early 60's in Mil design bureau. In 1963 People's Republic of Poland accqired an excluisve license and after some final touches started a serial production in PZL-Świdnik factory, complteing almost 5500 aircraft in the span of 20 years, supplying various models of the "teapot", from agricultural to anti-tank, to every corner of the communist world.

This helicopter came to be since the Soviets were Impressed by American exploits in Vietnam, the Soviet Union decided to mess around with armed helicopters, and one of the test subjects was Mi-2, although the MI-24 outclassed the MI-2 there was a competition between the MI-2 and MI-24 where the MI-2 achieved greater results but the MI-24 was just faster and could carry a larger armament, the MI-2 was phased out but the Soviets still had a few numbers in use for combat roles until the disarmament.
