Hello and welcome to this guide I've made for Star Girls, a dating sim made by SilverEdge Games. I came across the game when we received it on our Curator here on Steam, and even after doing the review, I kept playing because the game is just so good.

If you're here, then that probably means you already bought the game. But if it happens that you're browsing guides to decide if you should buy Star Girls, then, I suggest you go on ahead, close this guide, buy the game, play it, and then return here if you feel like doing a second playthrough. Replayability is encouraged, as it will require a few playthroughs to unlock all endings. As long as you have "days" left in the game, you can keep coming back by pressing "continue" even if you already managed to get an ending.

With nothing much to add, let's delve straight into the guide.
Gameplay tips
Tips and Gimmicks

In this first section I'll explain and showcase some things you can do which can go over you if you weren't paying attention, or if you were looking to do something but wasn't able to.

Fighters and Co-Pilots

Every planet sells a Fighter which focuses on the skill the Girl that lives there might be able to teach you:

  • In Colony 7, you can get a Constitution-based Fighter, which has extra health. Really good for the early game.
  • In Katnipper, you can get a Dexterity-based Fighter, which has an improved fire-rate. It also looks like a cat paw.
  • In The Hive, you can get a Poise-based Fighter, which has the ability to increase drop rates from enemies and asteroids. It looks, as expected, like a bee.
  • In Terra 5, you can get a Charm-based Fighter, which increases the bonuses you get from drops (from enemies and asteroids) based on your "Chain Level", which scales for every enemy you've killed without taking life damage yourself (if you get hit when you have a shield, then the chain won't break). It also looks like a mitocondria, the powerhouse of the cell.
  • In Gomora, you can get a Strength-based Fighter, which increases the damage your lasers do. There's not much to say about this one, heh.
  • In Neo-Eden, you can get an Intelligence-based Fighter, which allows you to receive boosts while in battle, there boosts can give you a shield, double lasers or a very weird "enemy lasers into useful drops" thing. It also looks like a really technological ship, perhaps the most technological of all of them.

Much like Fighters, you can have any girl you've already met as a Co-Pilot, they will increase your stats based on who she is, and what costume is she wearing. Keep in mind that taking damage while you have a girl as a co-pilot will decrease your affection points by a small amount, and dying will decrease affection points by a lot. Without going in depth, this is the basics for this:

  • Himeko increases your Health in her base costume.
  • Melanie increases your fire rate in her base costume.
  • Honey increases your drop rates in her base costume.
  • Luu increases the amount of credits/fame/affection you get from drops in her base costume.
  • Alaina increases the damage your lasers do in her base costume.
  • Sinpie increases the rate at which those boosts appear, and actually makes them appear, as if you don't have enough Intelligence, you won't get them at all.

Profitable Trading

Some planets will buy items at double the price. While I didn't found all of the examples for this, I've noticed, for instance, that Cyberworld Tickets bought in Neo-Eden can be sold for 500 credits in Gomora.

Gifts

There are two kind of gifts, and these are vital if you're trying to unlock "Record Time" or if you're afraid you'll end up screwing the date.

The first kind of gifts are "Energy" gifts. By giving a girl an energy gift, you'll replenish her energy by 5 while on the planet, and by 10 while on a date. Every girl has a different preference when it comes to these gifts:

  • Himeko likes Energy Drinks.
  • Luu likes Chocolate Cakes.
  • Gomora likes Alcohol.
  • Melanie likes Space Fish.
  • Sinpie likes Yellow Jell.
  • Honey likes Smoothies.

And the second kind of gifts are the actual gifts, we could call them "material gifts". For these ones, check the "Girls" section below.
Achievements (Easy)
Wardrobe Hero

Arguably the first of the achievement you're gonna get. In order to get this one, you must unlock all costumes for a girl. In order to unlock costumes, you need to do some things:
  • For the first costume, take a girl to a tier 1 dating site in which she wears a special costume. Info on this will be available in the Girls' section.
  • For the second costume, take a girl to a tier 2 dating site in which she wears a special costume. Info on this will be available in the Girls' section.
  • For the third and final costume, fill out her information chart by asking questions using the "Talk" button while you are with them. Keep in mind that repeating questions will reduce your affection points.

Full Power

In order to get this one, level up all of your stats to the max level of 50. To level up your skills you can either train with every girl for 3 energy per time and varying Fame costs, or try your luck at the "Talk" button instead, as it has a chance a random challenge will appear, allowing you to level up your skills for 2 energy and without spending your Fame.

Each girl can train you in a different skill, and this is explained at the start of the game after you meet all of them. Check out the Girls' section for more info about this.

Cursed

An achievement so realistic it hurts. To get this one, you just gotta never find true love. You'll end up doomed to browse Steam, playing dating sims and random VNs and perhaps lifting heavy objects in the gym.

Either way, to get this one, go 60 days without getting a "Soulmate" status Star Girl. To get a Soulmate Star Girl, you gotta finish her quest, and then go on a date with her. After which the credits will roll. Just don't do this, and you'll get the achievement.

"Star" Badges

To get any of the six available badges, just reach Soulmate status with any Star Girl. Each one will give you a different badge. Info on how to deal with each one is available on the Girls' section.

Shown here, the badge granted by objectively the best girl in this game: Sinpie.

If you don't agree with me, just leave this guide, your opinion doesn't matter.
Girls
The dev did a great job with the writing of these characters; while they might seem minimalistic, I believe they're amazing in the sense that it was not necessary to have a big ol' wall o' text to add depth to them, but rather, a few words, a small but meaningful backstory and their own motivations alongside high quality character design and voice acting make them stand out among other dating sim characters.

In the following sections, one per each girl, I'll have a summary of their personalities which I extracted from the dev's blog, and some tips on how to win affection and some other aspects of the game. I won't, however, add the whole "information chart" you can check out in the game, as you should be able to remember the necessary data to answer their questions properly. Think of it as a true "dating" training; what would happen if that new girl you're dating asks if you remember her birthday and you end up saying February 30 or something like that? Yep, exactly.
Himeko

She's the first girl you'll meet and the most "vanilla" one in the entire cast. Here's what the dev says about her:

"Himeko wants to be friends with everyone and hopes that she grows as a person with each new experience. She is driven and despite all of her setbacks, she pushes forward with a smile on her face. She is a little cautious due to the horror stories she has heard from dumb captains. She still wants to experience everything that the galaxy has for her. She loves flying and she wants to be just like you someday."

  • Her preferred answers are Charming and/or Smart ones. Don't go with Badass answers as those will surely lower her affection points with you.
  • When it comes to gifts, you can give her Energy Drinks, Videogames (Tickets to Cyberworld) and Flowers.

You can obtain her costumes from:

  • Tier 1 Dating Site "Colony 7 Beach"
  • Tier 2 Dating Site "Cyberworld"
  • Getting all of her info from asking questions to her.

As a side note, she can train you in Constitution. A stat that boosts your Health while on the Bullet Hell minigame, and also grants a boost in the affection points received by Charming answers.

Finishing the game after killing the final boss and going into a date with her will grant you the "Academic Star".
Luu

If you decide to go left after meeting Himeko, then you'll either find Luu or Melanie second. She's the only non-human romanceable character. Here's what the dev says about her:

"Luu is a scientist that works for a planetary corporation called hyper jell inc and is stuck trying to figure out how to save her planet while overcoming her own flaws. Slimes are timid by nature and never really speak out in fear of being the centre of attention. This is made worse because the current government brands slimes that have anything negative to say about hyper jell inc as terrorists; they are never seen again."

  • Her preferred answers are Badass and/or Smart ones. Don't go with Charming answers as those will surely lower her affection points with you.
  • When it comes to gifts, you can give her Chocolate Cake, "How to be Me" books or Green Jell.

You can obtain her costumes from:

  • Tier 1 Dating Site "Colony 7 Beach"
  • Tier 2 Dating Site "World's End Restaurant"
  • Getting all of her info from asking questions to her.

As a side note, she can train you in Charm. A stat that benefits you when you get drops after killing several enemies without taking damage in the Bullet Hell minigame, and also grants a boost in the affection points received by Charming answers.

Finishing the game after killing the final boss and going into a date with her will grant you the "Jelly Star".
Melanie

If you decide to go left after meeting Himeko, then you'll either find Melanie or Luu second. She's a catgirl. Here's what the dev says about her:

"Melanie trains every day and she always gives it a 110 %. She is the most positive person you will meet on your adventure and she tries to learn from every experience. Despite her positive demeanour, she hasn’t come to terms with the tragedy that happened 4 years ago, which took her parents and older brother away from her. She has become obsessed with getting stronger and only cares about killing the white space whale. She has taken it upon herself to train you in the ways of her people to make you a great hunter."

  • Her preferred answers are Badass and/or Smart ones. Don't go with Charming answers as those will surely lower her affection points with you.
  • When it comes to gifts, you can give her Space Fish and Cookbooks.

You can obtain her costumes from:

  • Tier 1 Dating Site "Ancient Mountaint Spa"
  • Tier 2 Dating Site "Supernova"
  • Getting all of her info from asking questions to her.

As a side note, she can train you in Dexterity. A stat that benefits you in the Bullet Hell minigame by increasing your fire rate, and also grants a boost in the affection points received by Badass answers.

Finishing the game after killing the final boss and going into a date with her will grant you the "Purrfect Star".
Honey

Since there's no more places to the left, right is the way to go, first planet, just below Colony 7 is The Hive, and here we can find this bee-girl called Honey, whole new concept there. Here's what the dev says about her:

"Honey was born and raised as a princess of Hive. She is used to gettering her way and being idolised by her people. As the future ruler of Hive she has been groomed to act a certain and because of this, she is afraid that if anyone saw her true personality they wouldn’t like her. She struggles with being the person everyone expects her to be and being true to herself."

  • Her preferred answers are Badass and/or Charming ones. Don't go with Smart answers as those will surely lower her affection points with you.
  • When it comes to gifts, you can give her Smoothies, Green Jell and Digital Cameras.

You can obtain her costumes from:

  • Tier 1 Dating Site "Great Gardens"
  • Tier 2 Dating Site "World's End Restaurant"
  • Getting all of her info from asking questions to her.

As a side note, she can train you in Poise. A stat that benefits you in the Bullet Hell minigame by granting you better drop rates, and also grants a boost in the affection points received by Badass answers.

Finishing the game after killing the final boss and going into a date with her will grant you the "Tsundere Star".
Alaina

Going to the right of The Hive, and a little towards the top of the screen, we can find the pirate haven known as Gomora, and in here, we can find the legendary pirate and Star Girl Alaina. Here's what the dev says about her:

"This woman is a typical Gomorin, she likes to drink, and fight as often as she can. As a pirate she uses all her assets to get ahead, but make no mistake, as she could kill you in a heartbeat. She doesn’t hide who she is nor does she care if she doesn’t fit in. She lives her life in the moment and isn’t interested in fixing the galaxy problems, focusing on her own instead."

  • Her preferred answers are Badass and/or Charming ones. Don't go with Smart answers as those will surely lower her affection points with you.
  • When it comes to gifts, you can give her any kind of alcoholic drink, power gems and weapons.

You can obtain her costumes from:

  • Tier 1 Dating Site "Mountain Spa"
  • Tier 2 Dating Site "Supernova"
  • Getting all of her info from asking questions to her.

As a side note, she can train you in Strength. A stat that benefits you in the Bullet Hell minigame by increasing the damage your lasers do, and also grants a boost in the affection points received by Badass answers.

Finishing the game after killing the final boss and going into a date with her will grant you the "Drunken Star".
Sinpie

The last place we get to visit is just above Gomora. In the planet of Neo-Eden lives Sinpie, cyborg or transhumanist beauty and objectively the best girl in this game. Here's what the dev says about her:

"Sinpie is unlike all the other girls in Star Girls. She has direct access to one of the most advanced civilizations databases and with her cybernetic, she is far more superior than any other race in the galaxy. Since Sinpie has only been alive for 3 years everything is new to her, including relationships and the emotional growing pains that come with your first love."

  • Her preferred answers are Smart and/or Charming ones. Don't go with Badass answers as those will surely lower her affection points with you.
  • When it comes to gifts, you can give her Steak, Yellow Jell and Fruit Trees.

You can obtain her costumes from:

  • Tier 1 Dating Site "Great Gardens"
  • Tier 2 Dating Site "Cyberworld"
  • Getting all of her info from asking questions to her.

As a side note, she can train you in Intelligence. A stat that benefits you in the Bullet Hell minigame by allowing you to receive boosts from asteroids, such as a Double-Laser, a Shield and the ability to transform enemy projectiles into profitable drops, and also grants a boost in the affection points received by Smart answers.

Finishing the game after killing the final boss and going into a date with her will grant you the "T-1000 Star".
Achievements (Hard)
Ace Pilot

In order to get this one, you must be able to get a Star Girl by your side while never dying at the Bullet Hell game. While this requires some skill, there are many ways to make it easier. Check out these tips:

  • While you must survive the first ever Combat Zone with just 1 HP, after you got Himeko to join you as a crew member, you can choose her to be your co-pilot, as she increases HP for your ship. Just by setting her as a co-pilot right from the start of the game, you'll be sitting on a much safer 3 HP. Himeko can also help you level up Constitution, which increases your ship HP as well.
  • Buying the Fighter from Colony 7 after you've managed to get 1000 credits can be a nice investment if you're not good at dodging those bullets.
  • Always kill the Orange fighters first, those who launch yellow bullets, unless there are White fighters which shoot lasers at your position. Do not worry too much about the ones who have shields. For bigger enemies, they all have patterns, look at them and figure out what to do, there's always a spot to get yourself to before you're killed.
  • Considering investing Fame in Strength/Dexterity training, as the increased fire rate and damage will see you going through the areas much faster. Intelligence can be really useful as well, specially if you want to go for a damage-based build.
  • Only the first and second stages of every combat zone award Credits and Fame. The other ones will give you items instead. The last stage will multiply your Credits/Fame if you manage to complete it. Learn when to pull back.

Record Time

This one is not hard to do once you've finished your first playthrough. An effective way to do this is to go to Combat Zones after meeting all of the girls, getting Credits and Fame, and levelling up the stats related for the answers in order to get the most affection points in the smallest time frame possible. Remember this:

  • For Smart answers, you need Intelligence and Dexterity. Melanie, Sinpie, Himeko and Luu like Smart Answers.
  • For Badass answers, you need Strength and Poise. Alaina, Luu, Honey and Melanie like Badass answers.
  • For Charming answers, you need Charm and Constitution. Himeko, Honey, Alaina and Sinpie like Charming answers.

Stack up credits, and do dates, get the required "Food" gift for the girl you're going after, so you can replenish her energy on a date, and "Talk" with them so you can fill out their information charts. By filling information charts, you unlock their "Final Form" costume, which doubles the received affection points by every interaction. Do their final boss mission and go on a date with them before 30 days have passed. You have to effective, however. Don't allow yourself to die on Combat Zones, and ignore "Day +1" events as those will remove valious days to rush a relationship.

Ultimate Captain

Every man's dream. To have his own Harem, and in this ocassion, you'll be able to fulfill this fantasy. In order to get this, level up all of the girls. You need to have all previous "Star Badges" in a single playthrough. After you've managed to defeat a Girl's last boss, just go back to the Main Menu and click Continue and get on working on the next Girl. After you have all of them, you can get this ending. High level on your stats is required for this, as there are some skill-checks (charm) when you're trying to do this one, and failing in a skill-check will result on all of your efforts being in vain.

The Forgotten Star

This is a tricky one, as you'll have to unlock a secret ending. In order to get this one, you have to become enemies with all of the girls. There are 2 situations in which you can become enemies with a girl:

  • Reject them when they ask for your health in doing a final mission.
  • While doing a Harem run (or pressing continue to try and get more Star Badges after getting an ending), you'll have scenes in which two girls will dispute your love. You can either choose one of them (and the other one will become your enemy) or do the Charm skill-check; if you fail the skill check, you'll become enemies with both of them. In order to fail the Charm skill-check, you need to have less than 30 Charm points.

Captain of Love

Easy and hard at the same time, the Schrodinger's Cat of Steam Achievements. You have to unlock all of the CGs for the game. In order to do this, you must have a succesful date with every girl in the locations where you'll get their costumes, and you also need to have the "Star Badges", since every ending has 1 CG. Even then, there are 2 extra CGs you'll unlock when doing the Harem and Hidden ending. It's a total of 20 CGs, 3 CGs per girl, and those last 2 I mentioned. Get all of them and this is the last achievement you'll get for this game.
Final Words

Not sure if the man behind Star Girls sent me this sprite here by mistake but I thought it was really cool, and since I didn't really have a place to put it on the main guide contents, I'm dropping it here, at the end of our trip. The sole fact that you might, or might not know who this is will depend on how much you've played, and if you have a certain achievement or not (not gonna mention which one, however).

The objective of this guide is for me (and the dev, of course, since he made the game) is to showcase some things that might have gone unnoticed after several playthroughs. I decided to do this guide because of a sort of passion; seeing great quality products like this, which were obviously made with a lot of love put into them, well, quite honestly gives me hope.

But either way, if you liked this guide, you might want to know what comes next? Heh, no sense on asking this, I know you want to know!

This dev is actually making another game, which is actually based on the same Star Girls universe, you can check this out, and some extra info about Star Girls on his website: https://silveredgegames.com.

I'd like to thanks the dev for sharing the assets necessary for making this guide, and saving me the effort of having to cut the sprites out of my own screenshots with Photoshop. And of course, a big thanks to you, dear reader, for taking the time to learning a bit more about this nice game, and for bearing with my possible typos and grammatical errors. Keep in mind I'll only actually thank you for this if your best girl is Sinpie; if that's not the case, then please get out of here, and if possible, delete your Steam account.
