"This is what happens when the news is broken thanks to a large amount of animated news articles that bog down everything. News articles fail to load, forever, no matter how many times I go back and next and switch around. Now I have no idea whats $20. And if I try to click for details, it opens up in crummy steam browser which is locked up, because it lost connection tot he web from all the gifs. If I open in firefox, it works, but still breaks if there's a hundred megs of gifs on the page because Valve refuses to put a stop to it.

All they gotta do is start putting limitations on the amount of data that developers can put into their pages. Scan the image, detect its true extention, limit the max size of a file, and the max total size of all files. 10MB of jpgs, 10MB of gifs max, total page size max at around 25MB.

Screenshots should be exempt because Valve's system processes them down into small res versions for previews and then loads the high res version after clicked. However, they should be calculated at their low res auto loaded versions as part of the page file size limit."
