I made this guide because I got bored and I've seen some people asking on the forums about skipping the intro, increasing the horizontal field of view and the removal of the comic border.

I hope these people will checkout the guide section and it will help them. Feel free to leave constructive criticism in the comments area below!

You'll need to edit vital files and parameters, you could end up corrupting your game files. Use at your own risk!

Have fun.

• Navigate to your Movies-Folder of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.
  (Full path: X:\Steam\steamapps\common\CoJ Gunslinger\coj4\Data\Menu\Movies)
  
• Here you can find your Call of Juarez: Gunslinger intro movie. It's filename is Intro_720p.wmv
  
• Rename the .wmv-file or just delete it.
  
  
• Create a new file like a new text document in your Movies-Folder.
  
• Rename your file to Intro_720p.wmv
  
  Please note: Your Windows needs to show the file extensions! If you don't know how to activate them please follow this link: How to show file name extensions (windows.microsoft.com)[windows.microsoft.com]
  
• By now you should've a 0 Byte Intro_720p.wmv-file in your Movies-Folder (and maybe the renamed [real] one). You can now start the game and you should immediately reach the main menu.
  
  Another note: You can't just remove your real intro-file and start the game. You'll get a black screen, the game "needs" a .wmv-file named Intro_720p.wmv

The field of view (short: FOV) is the amount and angle of vision you'll have while playing. It is measured in horizontal and vertically. In Call of Juarez: Gunslinger and most other games it is measured horizontal.

Since widescreen was born and the difference of "where do I sit" between console players and PC players a configurable FOV is getting more and more important.
Most console games are using a lower FOV (<85°) because the player sits far away from the TV, while a PC player sits right in front of his display. This results in tunnel vision, some people get motion sick, they feel bad or even get headache. The increasing of FOV can fix this problem, but beware a too high FOV could cause a fish eye effect.

Conclusion:

• The lower your horizontal FOV the stronger is the tunnel vision.
  
• The higher your horizontal FOV the stronger is the fish eye effect.

• Navigate to your Settings-folder in X:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\techland\cojgunslinger\out\Settings
  Otherwise you can copy this path in your explorer window to immediately reach it:
  %LOCALAPPDATA%\techland\cojgunslinger\out\Settings
  
• You will find two files: Audio.scr & Video.scr
  
• I recommend you save a copy of your Video.scr
  
• Open your Video.scr with an editor.
  
• You will now see a list of commands and their descriptions
  
• To change our field of view type (or copy) ForcedHorzFov(f) at the end of the document. Instead f insert a number between 80 and 110. This is your horizontal fov in degrees. Since it's not an integer you can even insert a number like 92.384782.
  
• If you want your old fov back, just delete the ForcedHorzFov(f) line or insert 82.72
  
• Save all changes and start Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

You can see more on your left and right sides and it feels less "zoomed in" while playing.

I really like the kind of storytelling in Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. I also like the comic and art style of the game. But what I don't like is if there is something on my screen, giving me the feeling of looking through something. The comic border in Call of Juarez: Gunslinger could be a good idea but only for a few moments. For me it feels really weird having those borders all the time on my screen. Here is how to disable them:
• Navigate to your Settings-folder in X:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\techland\cojgunslinger\out\Settings
  Otherwise you can copy this path in your explorer window to immediately reach it:
  %LOCALAPPDATA%\techland\cojgunslinger\out\Settings
  
• You will find two files: Audio.scr & Video.scr
  
• I recommend you save a copy of your Video.scr
  
• Open your Video.scr with an editor.
  
• You will now see a list of commands and their descriptions
  
• To disable the comic border type (or copy) DisableScreenBorder() at the end of the document.
  
• If you want your comic border back, just delete the DisableScreenBorder() line
  
• Save all changes and start Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
