A "cheap" and "effective" Medic
This guide will show you how to make a cheap and effective Medic, meaning spending your time and certs. buying the best upgrades earily in the game. This guide is not meant to teach you how to make a "boss" or "elite" Medic, but to simply help you get started with some useful early upgrades. This guide is directed towards new players as it will include game tips and hints. Suggestions and constructive criticism are welcome, but flaming and hateful comments will be deleted.
Your Weapon And It's Optics
The most important part of a weapon in PS2 (especially early on) is its optics. If you can't see your target, you can't shoot your target; damage and such can be adressed later. The Pulsar VS1's accuracy at medium-close range is one of its major advantages, and when paired with a good shooter and an optic system that complements its abilities it can be a devastating weapon. I highly recommend the VHO Reflex [x2] because of its zoom that perfectly fits the weapon's best range, its clear reticule, and its great peripheral vision. x4 and x3.4 reticules are also available for the Pulsar but their frames constrict their peripheral view and the weapon's recoil make sustained fire bothersome and difficult. All optics cost a cheap price of thirty Certs. making the VHO Reflex [x2] one of (if not the first) upgrades you buy.
Weapon Mods
Almost as important as optics, mods can drastically change a weapon's performance. Players with LMGs and other high-recoil weapons should invest in the foregrip due to its ability to greatly reduce directional recoil. The Medic's starting weapon, the Pulsar VS1, is a solid close-to-medium range weapon, and will often be fired from the hip. Even while standing still the weapon is somewhat inaccurate with hipfire, requiring the user to get even closer to their target to have all rounds fired hit the target. A laser attachment can be mounted on your weapon for a daunting one hundred Certs., tightening the redicule greatly making headshots more likely and increasing the range the user can stand from their target.
Medic Certs.: Tool and Suit slots
Tool and suit slots are essential for a good soldier, from a Medic's health field to a Heavy's overshield. A Medic's suit slot includes upgraded shields, flak armor, ammo belts, upgraded health, and grenade bandoliers. The chosen upgrade is unique to a player's preferences, but personally I find the Nanoweave Armor most effective, as it gives the user more time to retreat from combat to use their health-field ability (which heals themselves and all others around them. Activated using F). The health-field ability drains energy quickly, so investing in health and regenerative kits are helpful (but not reccomended unless you have a solid loadout already). Every level of a suit slot attachment cost more and more Certs., causing their price to skyrocket. A good choice for early suit slot is the Nanoweave Armor (as explained eariler) and the second level is good enough for a rookie. The first and second levels combined cost a small price of eleven Certs. The Medic's only tool is their Medical Applicator, which can be upgraded six times. Every level of upgrade decreases the amount of time it takes to revive a fallen comrade and increases the amount of health the revived teammate gets back up with. The Medical Applicator's main use is healing soldiers in the field (as you may have guessed), and the higher the level the faster the healing works. A level three Medical App. is sufficient for a somewhat-new player and costs a reasonable price of fourty Certs.
Summary
These upgrades should help you get into the fight and stand a better chance out there, and as soon as you get one it will contribute to making you more effective, earning you more Certs.! It may take some time to accumulate all of these upgrades, but choose the right ones at the right time and it will seem like you have made the transition from zero to hero in an instant. I hope this guide helps and I look foward to seeing you on the battlefield! Remember: a Medic is the backbone of any army, and you might be a squad's last hope; so get out there and kick some ass!

Just wait until you're done with your finals.

Yeah it is. If people are still reading it then I suppose I'll go through and fix everything back up to date. With finals coming up I don't know how soon I'll be able to devote a large bit of time to it though.

You should mention the Eidolon VE33, its an amazing unlock for longer range support playstyle.

When I play medic I heal and revive and pick of really high value targets that my infantry cant normally deal with. (Enemy medics, Infiltrators) Most VS guns are short range, designed for close encounters with the enemy, the VE33 is a nice gap filler to support your troops from the front lines without sacrificing your killing potential. It also unlocks on 3 classes (Medic, Engi, HA)

nice guide, it helped but i would just like to point out that in line 1 under weapon mods it says preformance instead of performance

Exactly, while the H-V45 is a great weapon, I did not include it because I know that the newbies will say "oh new gun I want that first" and waste their time saving up 250 certs. while the VS1 is a sturdy weapon already.

this guide is meant for beginners and the Pulsar VS1 is good enought to keep and not worry about getting a new weapon. (no flame, hate ect intended)

no love for the H-V45? you gotta love the fast fire rate, good accuracy, good recoil, it's just the best option overall and it's only 250 certs

I disagree with the optics choice. It all comes down to preference, not just what works with the gun's range. I myself have an incredibly easy time shooting targets through iron sights.
