Building Tips!
This is one of the most useful tips about building in Stars One to ever exist. The Tip to end all tips, this will save you hours of work, and tons of resources. And here it is...

(¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯)
( \....................../ )
( \ ).....................( / )
( ) (...... don't........) ( )
( / ).....................( \ )
( /........................\ )
(_.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸_)

There is no good reason to place a single block in this entire game*. It is entirely a waste of resources and should only be done when you have built everything else, but at that point, you should just make a new game anyway.

Did you die in space?
Dying in space sucks, mostly because your ship is out there! so here's the 12 step process to getting your ship back!

Step one:
Queue up all the ingredents nessary to build another ship in the autocrafter.

Step two:
Curse yourself and get angry about how your dumbass died in space

Step three:
Take your anger out on some local trees or wildlife

Step four:
Organize your chests and throw out anything that does not spark joy (i.e. concrete mix)

Step five:
Grind up some uranium and refine it

Step six:
Build yourself the spaceship that you haven't built yet (don't want your other ship to get jelous, would you?)

Step seven:
Find where you parked your ship

Step eight:
Get into the black spaceship if you aren't in it already (provided that you have a space suit)

Step nine: Appologize to your ship for abandoning her in space

Step ten: Nuge your other ship back to the planet

Step eleven: GET SOME FOOD BEFORE YOU DIE AGAIN, DUMBASS!!

Step twelve: Push your other ship into the atmosphere and watch it fall on top of your base or into the ocean. Land your ship and retrive it.

This has been the Twleve step proccess to saving your ship from the vaccum of space
All women born after 1993 can't make Titan ingots
Making titan ingots has sort of become a meme, for how many new players need to look it up. For a refresher, iron ore is placed in a crusher, next the powder is placed in an industrial centerfuge.

This will produce, among other things, Titanium Oxide powder, place this powder in the Industrial electrolyser. Titan powder refined is the product, and it is melted in an Industrial furnace, to form titan ingots. This metal can only be interacted with by Industral grade machines.

Now for the fun part. Remember when I talked about stack overflow and multiple machines? well, this is a great place to start. First, put a full stack of Iron ore and a full stack of coal into two seprate crushers, next, take both stacks of powder and centerfuge them at the same time.

Next, take the titanium oxide and refine it using the steps above, while also mixing the iron and coal refined powder to make refined steel powder. Take the silver and gold from the iron ore, and smelt it alongside the steel and electrolysing titan powder.

After the Steel, silver and gold are cast, melt the titan powder, and throw the concrete mix into your garbage chest, because it's garbage.

This is an example of an efficent production line, try to smelt or process by-products at the same time as the original product.

What to do about Hostiles
The hostile creatures in this game are:

Mutants: Medium HP, low-mid DPS, no drops, and an AI that makes twilight princess look like lvl 50 amibo

Most effective weapon: Assult rifle, or a large machine.

Panthers: Low HP, high DPS, drops meat, and will teleport behind you out of nowhere and doge all your bullets, and maybe spawn camp you.

Most effective weapon: The sword

Unlike most games, the biggest danger to you, is your own stupidity. No animal will kill you more often than thirst and looking away from the screen for an hour or so.

So the best way to stay safe, is to stay on your main island, eat, and drink.
Common Misteaks
Here is a list of ten things that you should not do in Stars One. I will be refering to some things in this list later in this guide: (As of beta 03.12.2019. Everything that most likely will be changed are marked with a * )

#1.
It is a waste of time to build a Factory
Transport. The cars in this game have
zero use* (unless you want a basement)
require fuel, and are very expensive.

#2.
Building an engineering spaceship, or air transport. There is nothing special about the engineering ship or the air transport*, and the regular spaceship does everything better. However, the only use of the spaceship is to get a few achevements, and a weird trader NPC that barely works*. Flying around is very fun though.

#3.
Forgeting to make a farm is a fate that I suffered, and it is very annoying to have to wait for some oranges to rot (oranges are the best food overall, fight me). Having a bed is useful early-game but later on it is easy to put off, however, cotton is needed to build in space. Having a farm in space lets you stay alive and not have to build a new spaceship every time you forget to bring food.
#4
Not building an autocrafter is a cardinal sin and is the worst thing you can do for your playthrough. It makes things like Advanced Electronics and Acclumulators very easy, and having 12000 small iron parts burning a hole in your pocket is a big plus. Try queuing up 600 advanced electronics, 1200 accumulators and a heck-ton of iron parts, basic electronics mecanisim parts and conductors.

#5
Underestimating the Deconstructor. This thing has saved me many-a-crafting trips and is a must, for any late base.

#6
Using the Space Gate is a waste of time, plain and simple. the planet has nothing on it and is therefore useless*. The only reason to use the gate is for the achevement, after that, no further trips are nessary.

#7
Taking a non overflowed stack (a stack>300) out of a machine while it is still running. This is a waste of invintory space and if the product is not finished, it wastes your time (for AFK or otherwise). Using overflowed stacks is an advanced strategy that lets you compress items to rediclious amounts, just like the cover photo of this guide. Most stacks won't go over 10000, unless you are really comited to crashing the game. If you want to do that, your best option is puting a lot of oil into the chem lab, and leaving the resin inside. after it hits a massive number (20000 or so) then cook it in an electric furnace and AFK overnight.

#8
Only building one of each large machine. This is a no-brainer, but I see it all the time, more machines means more things you can make at the same time. Autocrafters are the only exeption, as building more than one removes an ore for a geoothermal generator or an ore extractor

#9
Ore extractors are essencial to any late-game opperation, but how do you deal with all the stone, clay and sand? Well, the trick is to take all the ores you want to keep, (iron, copper, uranium, coal diamond, ect.) and spread them out to fill the extractor's inventory, such that all the garbage won't have anywhere to go. Currently this has no effects on the drop rate of other materials, and doesn't break the machine.*

#10
Following a stupid guide about how to optimize play. Stars One is about having fun, exploring, and building, so don't lisen to some idiot on the steam guide page, and play for yourself. You are the master of your game, and it is not my place to tell you the "Best" way to play.

in some regard this also works as its own new game plus...
demongo1154 16 Mar, 2022 @ 10:49pm
also should mention if stuck(out of a resource you can load a new game and mine a blank map seeing as your inventory is profile base and goes from one world save to another...

@Sten The autoworkbench and dissasembler disagree with you. and thanks for reading!

Well that was an entertaining read. One other thing, don't waste your silicon ore. It is limited and does not come out of ore extractors. It is the only way to get the crappy silicon waffers and you need a bunch to get the achievement for the land vehicle.
